Monolog yang diperdengarkan Bapak/Ibu Guru:
Today, we’re going to learn about the major parts of
flowering plants. Can you mention what they are?
A flowering plant has four major parts. They are the roots,
the stem, the leaves and the flowers. Each part plays
a vital role in keeping the plant alive.
The roots grow into the ground. They hold the plant in
place, preventing it from being blown away, and allow it to
draw up water and minerals. What about the stem? Well,
the stem contains many tiny tubes, running from root to
stem tip. This supports leaves and flowers, and channels
water and minerals up from the roots. Next are the leaves.
The leaves use the energy from sunlight to make food in
a process called photosynthesis. Meanwhile, the last part,
the flowers, make seeds from which new plants grow.

Contoh jawaban:
Hello, everybody. This time I’d like to tell you about one of
valuable insects. Well, do you like drinking honey? Do you know
what insects produce honey? That’s right! Bees!
Bees have enlarged hind feet, feathered body hairs, and
have stingers. They feed on flowers. They are useful because
they produce honey and pollinate crops. They live in colonies.
A small hive contains about 20,000 bees, while a larger hive may
have over 100,000 bees. We find thousands of worker bees,
hundreds of drones and a queen in the hive.
Did you know that the worker bees are female? Well, that’s
the fact. Worker bees do not breed. The queen bee produces all
the babies for the hive. The drone bees are male and do not
have stingers. Bees provide their young with pollen and honey.
To communicate with each other, they use dances. They also
use the sun in navigation.
The honeybee’s hive has cells made of wax. You know, the
queen bee lays her eggs here. She can lay 1500 eggs in one
day. Amazing, isn’t it? When the larvae hatch, they are fed by the
worker bees. The workers collect pollen and nectar from flowers.
The pollen is used as a protein source, and the nectar is
an energy source. Then, bees turn the nectar into honey.

In groups of three or four, observe certain flowers,
like roses or sunflowers.
Compose a report text about their common
characteristics.
Present your work in front of the class.

Contoh jawaban:
Listen, everyone. Now, I’m going to tell you about roses.
I know that almost all girls like them.
Let me tell you a fact about roses. Rose is one of the most
popular of all garden flowers! Do you know why? Right, because
roses have lovely scent and beautiful blooms. They often look
their best, especially, just after they begin to open when the
petals are still in a tight, velvety cluster. Don’t you think so?
Anyway, we can classify the roses into wild roses and
garden roses. Do you know their differences? Well, wild roses
usually have small flowers and have a single layer of five petals.
Meanwhile, garden roses usually have big flowers with multiple
sets of five petals in two or more layers.
There are 100 species of wild roses, but all today’s garden
roses were created by crossing 10 Asian species. There are now
over 13,000 official varieties of garden roses together.
Furthermore, some experts divide garden roses into groups
by when they bloom: old roses bloom once a year in early
summer; perpetual roses bloom in early summer, then again in
autumn; and ever-blooming hybrids bloom all summer. So, which
one do you have in your garden?

Our body can perform some actions such as rotating,
bending, stretching, jumping and turning. With all these physical
actions, we can create a number of body movements.
Every culture emphasizes certain features in its dance
styles. For example, the lilin dance from West Sumatra has
some candles carried by the dancers, or the topeng dance from
Betawi uses a mask to perform its dance. And there are many
more.
Basically, our body has the potential to be developed,
usually through long periods of special training. For example, in
ballet, the ballerina exercises to rotate or turn out the legs at the
hips and many more.

The coconut (Cocos nucifera) is an important member of
the family Arecaceae (palm family). It is the only accepted
species in the genus Cocos, and is a large palm, growing to
30 m tall, with pinnate leaves 4–6 m long and pinnae 60–
90 cm long. Old leaves break away cleanly, leaving the trunk
smooth. The term coconut can refer to the entire coconut
palm, the seed or the fruit which is not a botanical nut.

The coconut palm is grown throughout the tropics for
decoration, as well as for its many culinary and non-culinary
uses. Virtually, every part of the coconut palm can be
utilized by humans in some manner. The meat of the
coconut is the edible endosperm, located on the inner
surface of the shell. Inside the endosperm layer, coconuts
contain an edible clear liquid that is sweet, salty or both.
The flowers of the coconut palm are polygamomonoecious,
with both male and female flowers in the same inflorescence. Flowering occurs continuously.
The coconut has spread across much of the tropics,
probably aided in many cases by
seafaring people. Coconut fruit in the wild is light, buoyant
and highly water resistant, and evolved to disperse
significant distances via marine currents.

Bamboos are giant, fast-growing grasses with woody
stems. Most bamboos grow in East and Southeast Asia and
on islands in the Indian and Pacific oceans.
Bamboo stems are called culms. They often form
dense thickets that exclude every other plant. Bamboo
culms can reach up to 40 meters and grow very fast. Some
bamboos grow 1 meter every three days.
Most bamboos only flower every 12 years or so. Some
flowers only 30–60 years. For example, Phyllostachys
bambusoides flowers only after 120 years.
Bamboos have many great benefits. The Chinese have
used the hollow stems of bamboo to make flutes since
before the Stone Age. The Australian aboriginals use them
to make droning pipes called didgeridoos. For its
characteristics—light and strong—between 1904 and 1957
athletes used it for pole vaulting. It has also long been used
to make paper.

Orchids
Orchids are a group of over 20,000 species of flower,
growing on every continent but Antarctica.
In the moist tropics many grow on the trunks and branches
of trees, and so are called epiphytes. Only a few, such as the
bird’s nest orchid, are saprophytes, living off rotting plants in
places where there is no light.
Some species of orchids are found throughout the tropics,
such as Ionopsis utricularioides. Others grow on just a single
mountain in the world.
Orchids have a big central petal called the lip or labellum.
It is often shaped like a cup, trumpet or bag. The fly orchids of
Ecuador have a lip shaped like a female tachinid fly so as to
attract male flies.

Grassland forms when there is not enough rain for trees to
grow. There is usually a long, dry season and a short season
when it rains or even snows. In the dry season, plants and seeds
may lie dormant (asleep), but when rain falls, the grassland
briefly blooms with green leaves and brightly colored flowers.
In hot countries, during the dry season, plants face the threat of
fire, but the fire does not destroy the roots so the grass can grow
back again.
Meanwhile, a desert is a place where very little rain falls;
there may be nine months without rain, then three months with
a tiny amount. Deserts can be very hot in the daytime and very
cold at night so it is difficult for plants to thrive without the
mineral – rich soil and water that they need to survive.

A beach is gently a sloping strip of land bordering an ocean
or other body of water. It is formed by the action of rivers, waves,
currents, tides and wind. They are usually covered with sand.
Beaches change shape from day to day and season to
season. Waves, tides, currents and the wind sometimes broaden
a beach by depositing sand and sometimes narrow a beach by
carrying sand away.
Beaches along the ocean are divided into a foreshore and
a backshore. The steepest part of the foreshore is called the
beach face. Some beaches consist primarily of materials derived
from one kind of rock, which may give the beach a distinctive
color. Coral or limestone produces white sand, and quartz
usually produces yellowish sand. Sands formed from volcanic
rock are black.

Newspapers are just what their name says. They are
papers that print news. They first appeared in the 1400s just

The sugar glider is a marsupial, just like the many other
Australian animals—the kangaroo, the koala and the
wombat for instance. The sugar glider is a possum—very

eats leaves and fruit. However, the Australian sugar glider
has a very special skill. It can jump from tree to tree like a
tupai but it can also ‘sort of fly’ as well. In fact, it glides or
terbang layang in Bahasa Indonesia. When it jumps from
one tree to another it spreads its four legs out wide; and its
extra skin also spreads out and functions like a parachute.
