WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY SCHOOLS OF BUSINESS 2009 - 2010 RECRUITING GUIDE

Welcome to Wake Forest University
The Wake Forest MBA program delivers some of the best and brightest graduate candidates for today’s workplace. Our premier experiential programs and distinctive opportunities for hands-on learning provide students with the skill set required to hit the ground running within your organization. As such, Wake Forest ranked No. 26 among the nation’s top business schools in the recruiters’ assessment portion of the 2009 U.S. News & World Report rankings guide. The Career Management Center is here to help you. Through our strategic 4Ps career management process, our students are encouraged to define their “Passion” and “Purpose,” which will allow them to find their place in society. Once this all-important foundation is established, we then equip our students with the necessary resources and tools to ensure high standards of “Preparation” and “Performance.” This process is what distinguishes our students in today’s complex and competitive workplace, and allows you to recruit driven and ambitious students who are focused and able to engage with your existing team. We appreciate the support of our corporate partners and alumni across the country that enrich our students’ professional experiences by hosting club trips to various cities, coaching and mentoring students, and joining in the recruiting process. We believe it is worthwhile for your organization to get involved with our programs, not only as a benefit for our students, but also to bring a Wake Forest MBA graduate with fresh perspectives, strong camaraderie and dedicated work ethic into your fold. Thank you for your support and we look forward to working with you to help solve your corporate talent needs. Sincerely, Steve Reinemund Dean of Business

The Wake Forest MBA
TEAMWORK
“... working together, we can do this.” Students participate in interesting and challenging approaches to team building, from building and racing bicycles or boats to whitewater rafting. In the classroom, individuals of diverse backgrounds learn, study and present assignments as a team. Just as in business, each member contributes, learns from teammates and works cooperatively to deliver results.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP
“... a two-minute elevator pitch that could change my life.” Our nationally recognized Elevator Competition gives the brightest MBA student entrepreneurs from across the country a chance to pitch their business plans to venture capitalists during a two-minute, 28-floor elevator ride. Wake Forest recently expanded the competition to include a social entrepreneur category emphasizing the importance of a triple bottom line based on economic, environmental and social metrics. The student-run program encourages the kind of entrepreneurial thinking that helps our students excel, whether in startups or established corporate environments.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
“... Wake Forest gives every student the chance to lead.” Our students plan, execute and participate in national competitions and business events, such as the Wake Forest MBA Marketing Summit and the Leadership Speaker Series. These events bring senior executives at industryleading companies to our campus to interact with business students.

HANDS-ON MANAGEMENT
“... real companies and real challenges, in and outside of class.” Summer internships and other programs connect companies with Wake Forest MBA talent that delivers results. Our Wake Forest Business Solutions partners work with teams of MBA students who serve as consultants for practical projects under faculty guidance, yielding insights to business challenges.

Recruiting International Students
FULL-TIME POSITIONS
Most of Wake Forest’s international students have an F-1 student visa that allows them to receive an OPT and EAD work authorization for anywhere from 12-17 months after graduation. During that year, application for an H1-B employment visa is made by the company. This visa allows the individual to work in the United States for an initial period of three years and can be renewed for an additional three-year period.

INTERNSHIPS
Wake Forest’s international students hold an F-1 visa which allows them to pursue off-campus employment between their first and second years of MBA study. This is made possible through what is known as curricular practical training (CPT). Because there are no fees associated with this type of employment permission, this is a valuable way for you to bring international experience into your workplace. We encourage you to visit http://www.uscis.gov for detailed information on hiring and employing international workers. Please let the Career Management Center know your work authorization requirements for employment when you post roles so we can inform our students.

Marketing Your Company
COMPANY PRESENTATIONS
Market your company to students through an information session in one of our classrooms, with full multimedia support. Most presentations are scheduled from 4:30-5:30 p.m. with a reception and informal networking opportunity following.

Get Involved with Students
MENTOR PROGRAM

CORPORATE & STUDENT EVENTS
Introduce student clubs (Finance, Marketing, Operations, and Strategy/Consulting) and faculty advisers to key executives of your company through “Week on Wall Street” and other trips to major cities such as New York, Chicago, and Atlanta. Participate in immersion weekends with students for intense preparation in specific functional areas by taking part in panel discussions and one-on-one meetings with alumni and industry professionals. Past events have focused on consulting and investment banking. Invite students to explore your international operations during one of our annual international study tours. Wake Forest encourages all of its students to participate in these trips between their first and second years to demonstrate the increasingly important role culture plays in business. Showcase your organization and experiences to faculty, staff and students through the Wake Forest Leadership Speaker Series. Take this opportunity to meet with students to discuss issues of national and international importance.

WAKE FOREST BUSINESS SOLUTIONS
Companies submit project proposals during the summer to teams of second-year MBA students. Project teams, guided by a faculty adviser, serve as company consultants during late fall/early winter. The process delivers results and provides you an opportunity to evaluate student performance.

SIX SIGMA PRACTICUM
Organizations provide project scope for inclusion in the Wake Forest Six Sigma Practicum, which is a distinctive, hands-on learning experience where students design and enhance business processes. Using Six Sigma methodology, students analyze provided data and offer process improvement solutions.
