Grades 7 & 8 Language Arts & Mathematics
This program provides students who have completed grade 7 or 8 with remedial support in upgrading their skills in language arts and/or mathematics. (Summer school may not be appropriate for the success of identified students who receive modifications or accommodations to their program during the school year. As summer school is an optional program, additional support for identified students is not always available.) Please note that ALL students must bring a copy of their final report card the first day of class. When: July 3 - 26, 2012 (No Fridays except Friday, July 6/12) Language arts session - 8:30 am to 11:00 am Mathematics session - 11:30 am - 2:00 pm Ajax HS, 105 Bayly St. E., Ajax Donald A. Wilson SS, 681 Rossland Rd. W., Whitby Eastdale CVI, 265 Harmony Rd. N., Oshawa No fee for this program.
Getting Ready For High School
This program is open to all students entering grade 9 and provides them with a brief introduction to the grade 9 English and mathematics curriculum, as well as study skills, time management, and steps to success. When: Monday, August 20 to Thursday August 23, 2012 (4 days) 8:30 am to 1:30 pm Locations to date (see www.dce.ca for updates): Ajax HS, 105 Bayly St. E., Ajax Anderson CVI, 400 Anderson St., Whitby Donald A. Wilson SS, 681 Rossland Rd. W., Whitby Dunbarton HS, 655 Sheppard Ave., Pickering Cartwright HS, 14220 Old Scugog Rd., Blackstock Henry St HS, 600 Henry St., Whitby (Aug 20 to 22 only) G.L. Roberts CVI, 399 Chaleur Ave., Oshawa J Clarke Richardson C, 1355 Harwood Ave. N., Ajax Maxwell Heights SS, 1100 Coldstream Dr., Oshawa (Aug 20 to 22 only) Pickering HS, 180 Church St. N., Ajax Pine Ridge SS, 2155 Liverpool Rd. Transportation: Buses will be available for the grades 7 and 8 language arts and mathematics program only. Bus transportation will be available before the language arts session in the morning and after the mathematics session in the afternoon. A bus schedule will be issued at the time of registration. Students requesting a half-day program are responsible for mid-day transportation. There is no bussing provided at mid-day.
Transportation: Bus transportation is available only for Cartwright HS, Donald A. Wilson SS (students from Brooklin only) and Uxbridge SS. A schedule will be issued at the time of registration.
