GENERAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS (all applicants) To submit a graduate application to Fordham’s Business School, please visit: gradadmissions.fordham.edu/apply/
All applications require a current professional résumé/CV, official undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and a non-refundable $130 application fee. Application materials such as personal essay(s), professional résumé/CV, and recommendation letters must be electronically submitted through the application system. All applicants to the MBA and MS programs (unless otherwise noted on the previous chart) are required to submit a GMAT or GRE test report. MBA Applications require two recommendation letters from professional sources, such as managers, supervisors, colleagues, or clients. Recent college graduates applying to the Master of Science (MS) programs can choose to submit recommendation letters from both professional and academic sources, such as college professors or internship supervisors. Official academic transcripts may be submitted by mail or in person. If an applicant attends an institution that provides an e-transcript service, that version can be accepted in lieu of a paper version. We may only accept e-transcripts directly from the academic institution or a corresponding academic records agency.
REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS Language Proficiency: All applicants whose native language is not English must submit an original TOEFL or IELTS test score report. The only exceptions are applicants who have completed all four years of undergraduate or a two-year Master’s Program where both the la nguage of instruction is English and the university is located in a country whose official language is English. The recommended score for the TOEFL is 100, the TOEFL code is 7666. The recommended score for the IELTS is 7 (each test is valid for only two years from the exam date). Interviews: All International applicants are required to participate in an admission interview for the program they are applying to. We reserve the right to evaluate an applicant’s English based on the admission interview and an ESL test prior to the start of classes. Language enrichment classes may be added to strengthen a student’s Fordham curriculum. Academic Credentials Verification: All international applicants are required to submit official transcripts AND a third-party evaluation of their academic transcripts. We accept evaluations from any NACES recommended provider www.naces.org/ ADMISSIONS PHILOSOPHY Fordham is committed to creating a diverse, intellectually motivated and dynamic community that is well-suited for professional leadership in an ever-changing global economy. Our admissions philosophy at Gabelli is based on cura personalis – a Jesuit principle based on a deep respect for each individual and their potential. Each application is carefully reviewed by the Admissions Committee looking at the fair balance of an applicant’s academic and career potential. Key areas of consideration are academic performance and potential, managerial and leadership promise, and overall professional goals and aspirations. ACADEMIC ERFORMANCE The Admissions Committee considers the rigor of all academic institutions attended and overall academic performance (GPA). Below is the academic profile of the Fall 2014 class:
Average GMAT Average GPA
MBA Program 602 3.2
All Programs 652 3.33
MANAGERIAL POTENTIAL Recommendations in combination with the personal essay(s) and résumé/CV provide the Admissions Committee an opportunity to gain insight of a candidate’s leadership experience and promise. By evaluating a student’s promotional history and career transitions, the Admissions Committee can assess management potential and how it fits with both a student’s personal progression and professional aspirations. The MBA holds as a pre-requisite, a minimum work experience range of two full-time years, postgraduation from the institution an applicant attended.
Please note that the following data includes the MBA and all MS Programs. Most MS Programs do not require professional work experience prior to application. Average Years of Experience
Total for All Degree Programs 2.3 years
PROFESSIONAL GOALS & ASPIRATIONS The Admissions Committee reviews the personal essays to learn how Fordham fits into the applicant’s academic and professional goals. Successful candidates illustrate how Fordham will affect their future career goals and convey it in their essay(s) and in an interview (when applicable). Interviews are not required of all domestic applicants; the Admissions Committee may invite a candidate to participate in an interview in order to discuss their academic and professional experience before an admissions decision is rendered. In addition, the Office of Admissions accepts individual candidate requests for an inperson interview. DIVERSITY Fordham and the Admissions Committee value creating a graduate management business community that serves as a microcosm of the unique diversity representative of New York City. Students from all geographies, races, religions, nationalities, academics and professional disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply. We are proud of our diverse student body, a snapshot of which is below:
