• Who is one person that you can deliberately “lift up and lead” and
what will you do this week to do this?
Pray
Ask people for:
a) updates on things you’ve previously prayed together about
b) prayer requests for people. Make a note in the space below so
you can followup next week.
Open by praying for things that have arisen in your conversations today,
then transition to praying for people’s requests.
Remember this week:
Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will
himself be watered. – Proverbs 11:25

Crossing Over
A 6 week series for Connect Groups

5. Lifting and Leading

The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the
Lord stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on
dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole
nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.
– Joshua 3v17

In this 6 week series we are looking at the story of the Israelites crossing over
the Jordan into the long-awaited promised land. Today we see how we are
called to be people who will lift him up and lead others into the promised.

• What has been the greatest challenge you’ve faced in the last
week, and what has been the greatest blessing you’ve
experienced.
• Tell us about a memorable present you’ve received and a
memorable present you’ve given?
• Tell us about a time when somebody did something unexpected
that really blessed or helped you.

What
Watch: Session 5 – Lifting and Leading (10 minutes)
Read: Joshua 3:17, 1 Peter 2:9, and Proverbs 11:25
Discuss:
• What most stood out to you: What did you find inspiring and what
did you find challenging?
• How and why does lifting and leading others lead to us being
blessed ourselves?
• What are priests and what do they do? If every believer is a priest
(not just those who are employed by the church) what does this
mean for us today?

So What
• When you think about God’s promises, do you tend to think more
about what you want God to do for you or what God wants to do
for others through you? Why is this?
• Tell us about a time when you’ve been blessed and/or refreshed by
helping someone else.
• Think of somebody God has used in your life to lift up and lead you
into God’s promises. How have they done that?
• How can we lift up God’s presence and lead others in your
workplace? What about in your community?
• As a group what could we do to lift and lead each other into God’s
promises?
Now What

• What has been your takeaway today, and what will you do about it
this week?
• Make a list of 10 people that you are called to be a priest to, and
that you will commit to praying for every day this week.
