Logan overhears 9en pla!ing the violin in his tree house" Later, 9en discovers that Logan is musical as well, and has a talent for pla!ing the piano" Logan convinces 9en to team up with him for a church service performance, and with coaxing and encouragement, 9en agrees" eith tries to do something about the budding buddi ng relationship between 9eth and Logan, but b ut 9eth stands up to eith, showing that she is not intimidated b! him an!more"Logan and 9en perform for the church" -fterwards the man who Logan talked to when he first arrived in town finds eith to tell him about Logan asking around with the photograph" eith breaks into Logan&s home and steals the photograph, and then tells 9eth that Logan has been stalking her" er trust destro!ed, 9eth is distraught and sends Logan awa!" -s -s he walks from the house !oung 9en comes out and gives him his chess book" .llie tries to soften 9eth, explaining to her that it isn&t Logan&s L ogan&s fault he survived and #rake did not"-n intoxicated eith sees Logan walking with his dog and angril! confronts him" When Feus starts barking eith draws his weapon, aiming ai ming briefl! at Feus before aiming at Logan, while people around them on the street begin to panic and run" Logan manages to disarm eith, turning his gun over to another officer" Logan heads home to pack up his belongings" While doing so he flips through the chess book and finds a picture of 9eth&s brother, #rake" The tattoo on #rake&s forearm sa!s D-cesD" +eali4ing now that he knows what became of 9eth&s brother, he heads back to 9eth&s house to tell her"eith is at $udge Cla!ton&s, shocked and embarrassed over what he h e had done" The udge continues to see events onl! as the! relate to himself, himself, and tells eith the other sheriff will look the other wa!, and it will all blow over before the election" eith walks out into a gathering storm, leaving his badge behind" e heads for 9eth&s to plead to get back together again" 9eth gentl! but firml! tells him it cannot be, angering eith, who threatens to take 9en awa!" earing this the bo! runs out into the storm with eith following" 9eth goes after them, ust as Logan arrives" .llie urges Logan to follow"9en heads for his tree house, but has difficult! crossing the river because b ecause of the high
water and storm" The rope bridge gives bridge gives wa! and father and son are dropped into the water, ust as 9eth and Logan arrive" eith calls to Logan for help and he immediatel! comes to assist, as the tree house swa!s in the wind" eith is caught in the rope of the bridge, and gives 9en over to Logan" Logan sa!s he will return for eith, but as 9en is handed up to 9eth the tree house falls and eith disappears under it" The river sweeps the debris awa!" :aramedics :aramedics arrive in the background" $udge Cla!ton thanks Logan for saving 9en, to which Logan replies it was eith that had saved him, and conve!s his condolences"9ack home, 9eth goes to thank Logan for saving her son" Logan states he is there to tell her he knew what happened to her brother #rake" e tells 9eth how he saw one of #rake&s men inured, and how #rake went to rescue him, pa!ing for it with his life" Logan assures 9eth that her brother didn&t die in vain" -s Logan walks out, 9eth runs after him and asks him to sta!, sa!ing D=ou D=ou belong here with us"DThe final scene shows Logan, 9eth, Feus and 9en, on 9en&s @th birthda!, steering steering the boat as the! make their wa! through the beaut! of the Louisiana delta"
