BLIND SPOT DETECTION FOR CARS
ABSTRACT
With financial freedom clubbed with necessity the number of four wheeler
users have grown in the recent past. Normally, all of these four wheelers, say
cars are provided with rear view and side mirrors for monitoring the traffic
around them.
However, in some situations the traffic(vehicles) around the car, say in parallel
with the car, either left or right side, away from the car about 2/ feet can!t be
detected by the diver. "hese vehicles can!t be monitored in the side view
mirrors. "hese are called blind spots. "he only way driver finds this information
is, they have to turn their head loo# over their shoulders to monitor the traffic.
However, in practice due to the heavy traffic it might be difficult for the drivers
to turn their head and loo# for the ongoing traffic. $f the driver doesn!t do this,
if they turn the car without monitoring, if an accident ta#es place then the
driver who has ta#en the turn is at fault.
We wish to provide a solution to this problem in electronic way. We would li#e
to design a system which senses the vehicular movement around the car and
provides a convenient method of displaying the same in the form of visual
indication. "his way the driver won!t have to turn their head, %ust by loo#ing
the information at the dashboard, they can ma#e the %udgement by #nowing
the ongoing traffic status. "his way accident can be prevented.
"his pro%ect will act as supplement to our theoretical #nowledge that we have
gained form the last three years. &fter the completion of the pro%ect we will
gain good #nowledge on designing an electronic circuit and most importantly
we will learn the problem solving techni'ues.

in figure *. "he battery voltage is rectified and a regulated +, -. is achieved.
"he +, -. is re'uired as supply for the on board electronic components.
"he left/right sensors sense the movement of on road traffic, particularly at
blind spots. "his information is processed by the control and process circuit.
&ccordingly, a visual indication is provided to inform that there is vehicular
movement to the left side or right side or at both the sides.
"his system is a very useful aid for the divers and it reduces the on road
accidents.
