Traditional East Asian Medicine
Traditional East Asian Medicine, commonly known as Oriental Medicine or Traditional Chinese Medicine, is the complete system of healthcare studied and practiced by Jennifer. This natural and holistic system is a beautiful and gentle form of medicine that has existed, evolved and been refined for over a thousand years. Acupuncture is one branch of Oriental Medicine. Traditional East Asian Medicine is a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, Tui Na massage techniques, nutritional therapy, and Qi Gong exercises. One or more of these techniques will be used during the course of therapy, depending on the individual condition. Why Traditional East Asian Medicine? Jennifer incorporates all aspects of the medicine into her practice, she uses Japanese and Indian Ayurvedic methods in addition to Chinese styles of acupuncture, and she likes the acronym T.E.A.M. because she sees herself as an equal partner with her patients. She deeply cares about the results and overall experience her patients receive, and she will do whatever she can to get them to where they want to be, but she sees the best results happen when patients take an active role in their own healthcare.
Qi flows through specific pathways called meridians. There are fourteen main meridians inside the body. The diagram to the right shows the meridian pathways in the body. Each of these is connected to specific organs and glands. Meridian pathways are like rivers flowing inside the body. Where a river flows, it transports lifegiving water that provides nourishment to the land, plants and people. Similarly, where meridian pathways flow, they bring life-giving Qi that provides nourishment to every cell, organ, gland, tissue and muscle in the body.
