With the introduction of processors Am386 and Am486 simultaneously begin their integration into embedded designs. In 1995 the introduction of Am5x86 processor, which served
as kompatibeler upgrade paths for users of Am486 systems. In the late 1990s, AMD expanded its E86 (Embedded x86) product family by introducing the Élan ™ SC520
microcontroller for data communications, telecommunications and the information appliance market.

In early 2000 enlarged its AMD Embedded range through the acquisition of Alchemy Semiconductor and its Alchemy product line of MIPS processors for handheld devices and
portable media players. In addition, AMD acquired in August 2003, the AMD Geode business which was originally part of National Semiconductor. In the second quarter of 2004,
AMD extended its Geode families to low-energy processors under the name Geode NX, which on the AMD K7 based Thoroughbred architecture.

In mid-2005 took AMD with the AMD Opteron processor for the first time 64-bit processors in the embedded product line.

In July 2006, AMD announced the acquisition of ATI Technologies, Inc. and thus also expanded its portfolio by embedded technologies for chipsets and discrete graphics cards.
2006 added AMD Embedded also its embedded product line with the AMD Athlon , AMD Turion and AMD Sempron mobile processors.

From 2007 and up to 2008 AMD Embedded has received more single- and dual-core processors to its embedded product line. Among the 64-bit single-core processor AMD Athlon
64 2000+ with 8W TDP and Multi-Core AMD Opteron processors.
In February 2007, AMD announced also the launch of the integrated graphics chipset series AMD 690, and shortly thereafter the M690T for embedded designs. On the M690T the
specifically designed for embedded applications M690E followed.

In the years 2008 and 2009 advanced AMD Embedded its range of integrated chipsets for embedded chipsets AMD 780E and SB710.
In addition, in 2008, was ATI Radeon announced E2400 graphics card. These were the first discrete ATI Radeon graphics card, which is designed specifically for the embedded
market with a planned availability of five years.

In 2009, AMD Embedded brings ASB1 processor family on the market. The ASB1 processors makes AMD Embedded as single-core and dual-core options in a 812-ball BGA design
available. In mid-2009 brought AMD also chipsets SR5690 and SP5100 for embedded applications at the enterprise level to the market.
2009 also followed the discrete ATI Radeon E4690 graphics card. The discrete graphics solutions from AMD Embedded are not just as graphics processors with integrated memory,
but also as MXM modules made available.

In June 2010, AMD demonstrated its first Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) with AMD Fusion technology at Computex and gives an availability from early 2011 known. [2]
First details on the embedded versions of Fusion APUs are in September 2010 to the public. [3]
In November 2010, AMD Embedded announces that the embedded versions of the AMD Fusion APUs in the first quarter of 2011 under the name AMD Embedded G-Series are
available. [4]

In January 2011, AMD announced the availability of the AMD Embedded G-Series processors, the claims to be world's first and only APU for embedded systems. [6]
In March 2011, AMD Embedded presented at Embedded World in Nuremberg new CPUs for the AMD Embedded G-Series platform before. The as "headless" characterized CPUs
without integrated into the APU graphics unit. Target applications are therefore deeply embedded systems that are operated without a screen. [7]
In May 2011, AMD Embedded exhibited at the Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley 2011. Embedded Graphics Processor AMD Radeon E6760 front, which can provide six
monitors with a screen [8]
Also in May 2011 announced AMD Embedded on the availability of two new AMD Embedded G Varienten the series with reduced power requirements. The basis for this form one

The SOC of the G-series were expanded to include a model with only 6W TDP in July. [14]
The offer of the AMD Embedded R-Series was amended in August to three models without GPU. [15]
From 2014

In May, the second generation of based Kaveri APUs Embedded CPUs and the R-series were presented. The processors are equipped with an ECC-capable memory controller, and
it can be four displays driven. Production takes place in 28 nm that TDP may be determined by the system manufacturer (configurable TDP). [16]
