Carrying out its motto â breaking through barriers for women and girls,â the American Ass ociation of University Women provides important resources for females in academi a and the job market. Dedicated to achieving equality in various areas, the grou p currently possesses over 150,000 members. To achieve its goals, the American Association of University Women promotes advo cacy, philanthropy, education, and research. Its advocacy work involves shaping public policy on the local and international levels and encouraging others to ma ke their voices heard. Specific areas of focus include sick days, pay equity, an d retirement security. The organization offers fellowships and grants both domes tically and internationally.
