An MBA is an opportunity to improve personally, to develop ones management and technical skills, to increase career options and to gain desired credentials to get a good job. I decided to pursue MBA to achieve my personal and professional goals.

Personal goals:

Not only is this MBA for myself, but also for my family which is my first priority. Obtaining my MBA will allow me to be a good example for my children. Having both their parents finished Master s degree in professional fields (my husband has done Masters in Computer Science) will help them understand the value and importance of higher education. Getting my MBA will also help me gain the confidence in terms of getting my ideas across successfully and effectively. Higher education is a gift that I intend to take full advantage of. Professional goals:

There are several reasons that I believe pursuing my MBA will help me to reach my short term and long-term goals. In the short term, I would like to further my career at my current job and field of employment. I am working in interior designing furniture store as I have passion about designing. I took this job to enhance my designing skills as well as get experience in sales and marketing. By acquiring my MBA I will be able to demonstrate that I have the ability to manage and oversee the work of others. This will help me advance my career in the same company in management position. As for my long-term goal, having my own interior design company is more like a dream to me as of now. Living it out some day would be wonderful. I believe that with my experience and an MBA degree I can start and run this kind of business effectively and efficiently. Acquiring an MBA will help me stand out as an entrepreneur and earn respect. That respect helps with financing, too. Loan officers, venture capitalists and angel investors are usually more receptive to business owners with MBAs (Krotz, 2009). Supporting Information Completing a Jungian personality type assessment I am classified as an ENTJ personality type, meaning extroverted, intuitive, thinking, and judging. This type suggests that I am outgoing visionary, argumentative, have a low tolerance of incompetence, and often seen as a natural leader. Eggert suggests Possible career as a manager, management trainer, stockbroker, lawyer, chemical engineer, police officer (Eggert, 2000). I believe that it is truly important to understand yourself before you can lead others. This personality test provided by UOP provides insight to a person s character. Self-awareness is really important and it is

the first step to building on current strengths and improving weaknesses. Personality testing in a developmental context is used to enhance self-knowledge or self-awareness (Cacioppe, 1998; McClure & Werther, 1993), identify strengths and weaknesses (Stanton & Matthews, 1995), and enhance team effectiveness (Kamen, 1997). Where self-assessment test confirms my abilities as a leader and a successful manager, at the same time it reveals the areas where improvement is needed such as being argumentative and displaying a low tolerance for incompetence. I think the MBA program UOP will offer the right direction to address these. Conclusion I strongly believe that learning should be lifelong commitment. I am very excited to have finally started MBA and am looking forward to getting most out of it. I am confident that the MBA program will help me reach my goals, both personal and professional. As suggested by Jungian personality type assessment and told by my friends and peers earlier on many occasions, I do have an outgoing, visionary, argumentative personality and a critical thinking. I also believe that I have the ability to turn into a great leader when guided by all the elements in MBA program.
