BANDUNG The City City Bandung, the capital city of West Java, is about 180 km (112 miles) southeast of Jakarta. With almost three million inhabitants in Bandung City and over seven million in greater Bandung area, it is the fourth greatest city in Indonesia. The city is rich in history, culture and education, architectural heritage, shopping spots and tourism activities.

How to Ge Gett There By Air  Bandung's Hussein Sastranegara ( Sastranegara (IATA IATA:: B DO) DO) airport offers limited services mostly with small planes. Air Asia  Asia flies at least daily to Bandung from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore while  while Merpati and Sriwijaya Air fly from other big cities in Indonesia such as Surabaya. The preferred alternative is by using flights to Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta Airport then land transportation to Bandung which is an approximately 3-hour drive.

 

By Land -

Shuttle Bus – various competing transport operator using 7 to 10 seater minivans minivans to serve Jakarta – Bandung route as well as Sukarno-Hatta Airport – Bandung route return or one way trip (door to door or point to point). Train with frequent scenic trips between Jakarta and Bandung.

What To See and Do Bandung has several iconic buildings well preserved for visitors to see, including Villa Isola (1932), Gedung Merdeka (1895), Savoy Homann Hotel (1880), Grand Hotel Preanger, Gedung Sate (1921), Cipaganti Mosque (1933) and ITB West and East Hall (1918). Other interesting places to visit are Saung Angklung Udjo, Bosscha Observatorium, Geological Museum, Sri Baduga Maharaja Museum, Pos dan Giro Museum and Mandala Wangsit Siliwangi Museum.
