SEE COLLEGE PREP Bay Area Programs Manager Job Description
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW SEE College Prep offers SAT preparation, college counseling, and mentoring for low-income students to narrow the college opportunity gap and create cultures of college success in communities. We partner with charter schools, traditional public schools, and community-based organizations to provide our services to students. Past and current partners include schools within the Envision Schools, Leadership Public Schools, Alliance College-Ready Public Schools, and Green Dot Public Schools networks. We also partner with schools within East Side Union High School District in San Jose and Los Angeles Unified School District. Students in SEE’s program receive a total of 80 hours of instruction, diagnostic testing, and mentorship. We hire professional teachers to provide classroom instruction, as well as current undergraduates— many of whom come from the same communities as our students—to tutor and mentor the students through the material. Students in SEE’s programs achieve an average improvement of nearly 200 points. To date more than 1,300 students have gone through SEE’s programs; in the next year alone, SEE will expand its reach and serve 1,500 students throughout California. For more information, visit our website at www.seecollegeprep.org. POSITION DESCRIPTION SEE is hiring a Programs Manager for the San Francisco Bay Area market. This position will report to the Director of Programs and serve as a member of the Programs Team. Major duties include: • Program Management and Evaluation o Oversee a portfolio of 10-15 program sites in the market. o Manage the staff at those sites, including teachers, mentors, and program coordinators. o Maintain relationships with existing partners to ensure retention. o Support development of new partnerships and growth of programs, including expansion into an academic year service model. o Use data management system to ensure program quality. Recruitment and Training of Instructors and Mentors o Oversee Campus Recruitment Directors on college and university campuses across Northern California in order to recruit undergraduates as Mentors. o Coordinate and execute the interviewing, hiring, and placement processes for undergraduate Mentors. o Work with partner organizations to identify and recruit talented professional educators to deliver SEE’s curriculum. o Provide support to Director of Programs in training Instructors and Mentors. Curriculum Development o Provide support to Director of Programs in making improvements to our curriculum. o Develop teacher and student materials to accompany our curriculum.





Desired Qualifications • • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. At least 2 years of work experience in education or youth development required; experience working with low-income students preferred; experience with Bay Area education organizations preferred. Experience in volunteer recruitment, training, and/or management preferred. Effective multi-tasker who can oversee multiple projects and handle a dynamic work schedule. Ability to get the details right without losing sight of the bigger picture. Strong oral and written communication skills. Comfortable working in a flexible, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Belief that all students are capable of success on the SAT and gaining admission to college. Ambition and conviction to create an enduring national organization. Working knowledge of office productivity software (MS Office Suite) Spanish proficiency a plus.
