Bay Area Urban Debate League
Mission: The Bay Area Urban Debate League is dedicated to expanding opportunities for high school students in the San Francisco Bay Area to participate in rigorous academic competition and to become articulate and informed leaders in their schools and communities. From Leah: There will be two other folks. Dmitri Seals. He's the interim co-ED with me, and will likely become the new ED in July. He's a PhD student at UC Berkley, and studies voting in disenfranchised communities or something like that. He's relatively new to fundraising, but needs to learn the ropes quickly so we can raise enough $'s to fund an ED position. The other person is Steve Weiner, who is skeptical about the value of a fundraising consultant, so you'll really need to make him see the value in spending money to raise money ,so to speak. My vision for what you would be doing is to really help us take potential major gift donors that we've identified and turn those prospects into checks, and ideally into multi year commitments. I'm not sure how feasible that is, but that will be the main thrust of the conversation. Questions: 1) How many major donors/prospects have you ID’d? 2) What makes them a MD? 3) Have you run wealth screens to assess giving potential? 4) What do you feel is the main reason why people give to you? 5) Have any large asks been made? What were the results and why? 6) Tell me about your events.
