Belair National Park
A world away in your own backyard...
Escape the bustle of the city and enjoy a relaxing picnic or perhaps take a wander through woodlands and forest. You may be surprised by the beautiful varieties of orchids and other wildflowers in bloom, or the lively and colourful displays of our native birdlife. Belair is South Australia’s oldest park. The park is located just 25 minutes from the city centre. Fancy a game of tennis, cricket or football? We’ve got a ground to suit and numerous courts available in a variety of natural settings. Belair has always been Adelaide’s favourite bushland playground. Bring the family and enjoy getting back to nature! If you’re interested in early South Australian history, why not visit Old Government House, the summer residence of our state’s early governors. This living piece of history, with its magnificent gardens, is open between 1 pm and 4 pm on Sundays and public holidays. A donation is requested. Bookings can be made for weddings, school groups and bus tours by phoning the information officer on (08) 8278 5477. Those with a keen eye may even catch a glimpse of the shy Southern Brown Bandicoot scratching about in the undergrowth. These marsupials truly are a special feature of Belair’s wildlife. Belair National Park is part of the Greater Mount Lofty Parklands - Yurrebilla. The parklands contain around 40 000 hectares of lands managed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, ForestrySA, SA Water and Planning SA. www.yurrebilla.parklands.sa.gov.au

The National Parks Code
Help protect your national parks by following these guidelines: • Leave your pets at home. • Take your rubbish with you. • Observe fire restrictions, usually 1 November to 30 April. Check CFS hotline 1300 362 361. • Conserve native habitat by using liquid fuel or gas stoves. • Camp only in designated areas. • Respect geological and heritage sites. • Keep our wildlife wild. Do not feed or disturb animals, or remove native plants. • Keep to defined vehicle tracks and walking trails. • Generators, chainsaws and firearms are not permitted. • Be considerate of other park users. Thank you for leaving the bush in its natural state for the enjoyment of others.

Location map

Phytophthora (Root-rot fungus)
Phytophthora (fy-TOFF-thora), otherwise known as root-rot fungus, is killing our native plants and threatens the survival of animals that depend on plants for food and shelter. This introduced fungus can be found in plant roots, soil and water. Please help stop the spread by staying on tracks and trails and by complying with all Phytophthora management signs.
