BMS Specifications The Characteristics of Battery Management System
Our BMS has the characteristics of being small in size, yet capable of handling high currents while drawing very little low current while in a still mode, It offers both over charge and over discharge along with short circuit protection. Besides the basic functions that other ordinary systems have BMS has other additional features. They are: 1, Battery Management System is suitable for a wide variety of applications such as electric car’s, truck’s, bus’s, other large energy storage devices, UPS systems and backup power supplies. 2, The BMS has an exceptional balancing function. The system will transit voltage readings automatically from each cell when it is in a standby, charge or discharge mode. BMS effectively balances all of the cells. It only takes around 2 hours to balance all the voltage variations of each cell within the pack to ±0.005 volts. 3, BMS starts its balancing and regulating function as soon as charging starts. The maximum charge voltage is set up according to what is the maximum charge voltage for each cell, and how many cells are in series in the pack.(Each cell max charge voltage is 3.65 volts. In a 48volt pack the maximum charge voltage is 58.4 volts) The system makes the charge voltage on each cell on average during the whole procedure of charging. After finishing charging the voltage tolerance of all the cells will not be over ±0.002 volts. 4, The BMS also has the basic function of regulating the transfer of energy during discharge. In the process of discharging the battery pack into the load all of the current within the cells will be discharged at an equal rate. Thus the output energy of the battery pack is the average power total for all of the cells. It is unlike other BMS systems which can only adapt the minimum power of one cell. With BMS the battery consistency becomes less sensitive and greatly decreases the amount of labor and time of connecting and matching similar cell into packs. Meanwhile it also eliminates the negative effect of the difference of each cell to the performance of the whole pack after a period of usage so that the lifespan of the battery pack can be as long as lifespan of single cell. In most of the other competitive common battery management systems the cycle life of the whole pack is only 30%~60% of cycle life of a single cell. 5,BMS is also characterized by high energy efficiency, resulting in low heat buildup. quality control assures high reliability, long term stability, long lifespan, and a deep

concern about safe operation during the life of the pack. We offers a wide variety of packs from less than 10 Ampere Hour, to hundreds or thousands of Ampere Hours in very large capacity battery packages. 6,BMS will operate over a wide range of working conditions. It is waterproof, humidity proof, stain proof, corrosion resistant, and will withstand a high impact shock. In addition it can withstand and operate in high and low temperature (-4°F~185°F) environments. In conclusion; BMS can be applied in various capacity and voltage battery packs and will provide lasting performance at an affordable price. Simply put; Battery Management System is the perfect solution for almost all of your Li-ion battery pack needs. The following picture and wiring diagram shows the typical installation of BMS.

Installation method:
First; Cut the cables to the right length, connecting the side B1-, B2-, B3- with >8 square mm or more copper cables to the side A0 of battery pack. We suggest welding the terminal busbar’s which can stand >100 amperes of current on the cables, Then screw those busbar’s on the side B1-, B2-, B3-

of BMS, and then welding or screwing another side of the cables to the side A0 of battery pack (the cathode of the first cell). Then using another >8 square mm or larger copper cables to connect the side P1-, P2-, P3-. You still need to weld the busbar’s with a capacity of more than >100 amperes on one side of those cables, Then screw the busbar’s to those side P1-, P2-, P3-. The other side of those cables could be used as cathode for output or charging input terminal. Second; Connect the terminals from A 1, A 2, A3 ’s line to side 0 - 24 of battery pack in a specific order array of side A1-0 to side A3-24, Do not disturb the sequential order or the BMS will not work. The order is shown on the schematic drawing. (The first cell’s cathode is side 0, the last cell (the 24th) anode is side 24) The copper cables should be >0.75 square mm or more. Check the connections to make sure that they are in right ranking order. Then insert the terminals into the socket of A1, A2, A3. Make sure all numbers are in corresponding order. Your electric soldering iron should be grounded. Static electricity can damage the BMS permanently. Last; Connect the cathode of DC72V input terminal to the side 24 of battery pack (the anode of 24th cell), meanwhile welding or screwing on this side 24 for 30 square mm or more copper cable, the other side of this cable can be regard as anode for charging or discharging. Be careful not to touch or plug the terminals already assembled. When installing, you can fix BMS by copper pillar, then connecting the line and terminal.

SAFETY WARNING – Be especially careful when attaching the BMS System
Under the right conditions any voltage over 24 volts can electrocute a person. Always wear electrical insulating gloves and protective eyewear when attaching the wires to the battery terminals. A string of lithium batteries can represent a serious health hazard. Shorting out the battery terminals with a metal object can result in serious burns, blindness or an electrical fire.
