Singapore which is also known as the Republic of Singapore, located in Southeast Asia. It is a city-state off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, 137 kilometers (85 m) north of the equator. Singapore is an island country made up of 63 islands which is separated from Malaysia by the Straits of Johor to its north and from Indonesia’s Riau Islands by the Singapore Strait to its south. When it comes to purchasing power parity, Singapore has ranked as the third highest per capita income of the world. Singapore has 5 million people in terms of population and half of them were born locally. The majority of populations are Chinese, with Malays, Indians and Burmese forming significant minorities. The four official languages are English, Chinese, Malay, and Tamil. Although nowadays, some Singaporeans speak English, it is known as Broken English or Singlish because the English that they speak is not perfect and really hard to understand if you are not familiar. They speak too fast and soft. Since it is located on the equator, the weather is never cold. Fortunately, the air-conditioned service is available everywhere even on the bus. So, there is no place to feel hot unless you walk on the road. You can wear light. When it comes to Transportation, since it is a small island with a high population density, the number of private cars on the road is restricted so as to curb pollution and congestion. The cost of the Singaporean certificate of entitlement alone would buy a Porsche Boxster in the United States. And, the prices of Cars are really higher in Singapore than in other countries. According to some report, only one in 10 residents owns a car. The rest takes the public transportation. SBS Transit and SMRT Corporation are the main two companies that run the Singapore Transportation System. Taxis transportation is a popular form of public transportation system because the fares are relatively cheap compared to many other developed countries. When it comes to Cuisine, the diversity of food is touted as a reason to visit the country, and the variety of food representing different ethnicities is seen as a symbol of its multiculturalism. The food cost depends on where you eat which means if you eat at home, you can reduce the normal cost by 2 times. If you eat outside, obviously you will double it up. So, generally, the locals want to eat at home, and the food courts and restaurants are only opened for the visitors and foreigners. The national fruit of Singapore is the durian. Singapore is known as an attractive tourist destination. Singapore possesses has a well-developed tourism industry, as a cosmopolitan city that highlight racial and cultural harmony. There are a lot of places that you must pay a visit to when you are in Singapore. Unversal Studio, Singapore Zoo, Botanical Gardens, Clarke Quay, Singapore Flight Experience, Singapore Flyer, Singapore Science Centre. National Museum of Singapore, Little India Singapore and last, but not least, Marina Bay Sands. There is a saying for foreigners who are in Singapore to shop which is you will be shopping till you are broke. There is practically a shopping sale of sorts all year round. And, the sure thing is you will not be going back empty-handed.
