I agree, my parents have BSNL while I had Airtel! Airtel in Bangalore are dacoits! Horrible horrible service. On the other hand BSNL has been a very good experience hence I am looking at switching my internet service provider

Dont go for airtel, they cheat . . i had Airtel 1250rs plan they say 60GB download at 2mbps after that 512Kbps... But as soon u reach 19 20Gb of Download u will get message from airtel that u have exceeded the limit . .. get data pack for maintaining the speed . . . they are frauds

Different experience here with BSNL. I need to walkin to BSNL customer care center to explain my over bill and make it correct. i'm tried. No complains in connectivity. I have Airtel connection in my office, no problem at all. Happy service :)

that is because u are confusing kbps with kBps. 512 kbps = 64 kBps. the 50-60 kbps that u said u are receiving is actually 50-60 kBps, which is obvious if u have 512kbps or 64kBps connection

all computer related memory units are multiples of 8 like, 1 byte = 8 bit, 1 Mb = 1024 KB etc(which is 32*32, a multiple of 8) so they can either say 256 kilo bits per second or 32 kilo bytes per second but 256 sounds something large and hence they use it to trick people.

Well, Sorry to ENGAGE MR. SWADESH lemme describe this to you 256 kbps and 32 kbps are not same. 256 kbps and 32 KBPS are same. Here kbps = kilo bits per second and KBPS = Kilo bytes per second. There are 8 bits in 1 byte So, 256 Kilo bits per second divided by 8 makes is equal to 32 Kilobytes per second. REMEMBER 1 BYTE = 8 BITS. Hope you have understood the difference between the two.... BSNL was good 5 years back and now it is worse, even MTNL has far better offers than bsnl, go to http://mtnlmumbai.in/index.php/unlimited-plan and check for your seld, why BSNL cannot provide plans atleast like MTNL if not better than that, and since BSNL is in mors rural areas it should have much better plan that MTNL. No,not at all.... It would depend upon the internet traffic. Suppose during midnight,users are less than daytime.So in that case,you'll get more speed that day time for sure... :) And as per your question,some of the brandwith would be used up for uploading..And some would be using for auto updates,etc,in the background(You can turn them off....visit Youtube for help)... At the Dombivli-MIDC Telephone Exchange (Kalyan Telecom District, Maharashtra), when enquired for the BBG Combo ULD 1000 plan, I was told that the BSNL has stopped providing modems and customers will require to purchase a modem at their own cost. as long a the connection or the network is good everything will good with bsnl if any thing goes wrong with the connection they will show teh hell...from past few day i have an issue broad band speed none of the technician are able to solve the problem in configuring my modem and teh customer care guys always they are dump guys they openly says we don`t know and finally some techs ask me to visit the local exchange.....god knows when these government companies will improve..... Harsimran, I'm getting ULD 900 installed in Phillaur region. Here's answers to some of your questions. You won't be paying for the landline installation fee, New 550/- (Old 300/-) because you already have one. You won't be getting a free modem, basic or Wi-Fi as free modems have been abolished from 1st of Jan 2013 regardless of subscription. Wi-Fi modems will cost you 2100/- from BSNL or get one from the shops and it shouldn't take more than a few days to get the gear installed. Our installer is coming over tomorrow, Tuesday to install. Find more info regarding installation charges, free modems abolition and Allowance Usage on other pages here. If you ask me, I'd rather go for ULD 900 due to higher bandwidth.

The above user definately got his knickers in a twist. The above plan is not an UNLIMITED plan. Once 1.5 GB allownce has been used up the rest costs 20 paise per MB. The more you download the more you pay. If he had read the plan carefully he would have realised that between 2AM and 8AM downloads would have cost him nothing. Reply

First of all you need to realise that your speed goes down to 256 Kbps once your 4 GB allowance has been used up. Check your speed at the beginning of your billing period. If it stays at 256 Kbps during the whole month then you have reason to complain. Secondly, speed does not change 'automaticlly' it has to be changed. If another person asks for the same package in your area he will get it but you won't. If your local exchange won't do anything about it then complain higher up or upgrade the package then downgrade again. That might work. Reply

I had registered through exchange and thru BSNL complaints IVR my pathetic experience of not being online and still paying for it !! which fell to deaf ears. We have Rs.900/- Home plan. This had a facility to use 400 free calls. Suddenly, the scheme is changed, and we are charged for the calls made to other service providers now. Guys i am staying near Adugodi, Koramagnala Forum Bangalore. and i am looking for unlimited BB connection which can give me high speed 2/4 MBPS upto 30/40 GB per month and thereafter 256/512 KBPS. I switched over to Home Combo plan a few months back from lower plan because BSNL promissed it is Unlimited and speed 2MBPS upto 4GB or so. I dont cross that limit. However I never got bandwidth speed more than 710 Kbps which corresponds to download speed of 88Kbps. From 01Mar2013 BSNL has increased plan charges toRs 650. BSNL is the worst customer care service only looking for the money i guess. I have BSNL broadband 750 unlimited plan. As per that i m suppose to get speed of 512 kbps to 1 Mbps bt i getting only 74.60 kbps since past 4 months i m suffering with this problem. I have to restart modem again and again and it work for few minutes after that net speed died. I have launched complaint so many times. So called engineers come, just open Google and run away with rude answer, you will get this much speed only or upgrade your plan. Customer care never pick up the call. I am fade up of this issue. Hi, I was heavily overcharged for BB usage in Dec Rs 2997 and Jan Rs 5147. I was in the Flexi 500 home plan from mid Dec to Jan month, as i was not having my laptop to connect, I was not using the internet. But still the system shows bb usage and charged the bill. I have made several phone complaints, written complaints to bsnl accounts, JE officer, sent several emails, but still no solution. The bsnl system also didnt alert me when the bb limit is crossed, i didnt get any sms too. only after i confirm Yes , the system should continue, due to this system error, i had to change my bb plan to unlimited again, though i dont have usage of it, my outgoing is barred now, im getting payment reminder calls, late fees now. iam using bsnl last 4 years & befor that i used it for 2 years.last 4 years i am using 1450 4 mbps till 20gb & after that 512 kbs plan unlimited with good coustomer support.only issue is that the cable cut down or dslink down.whenever i call them it fixed with in a hour.in the beginning i didnt get good speed and i directly escaleted this issue to superior then they lay down the fibre till my house from there they use the phone line .if suppose i want to use fibre tommrrow i will get instant connection since the cable is already there.i am happy with current connection only issue is that after 20 gb i have to stuck with 512 kpbs which is pain after using 4 mpbs. I agree, my parents have BSNL while I had Airtel! Airtel in Bangalore are dacoits! Horrible horrible service. On the other hand BSNL has been a very good experience hence I am looking at switching my internet service provider

Dont go for airtel, they cheat . . i had Airtel 1250rs plan they say 60GB download at 2mbps after that 512Kbps... But as soon u reach 19 20Gb of Download u will get message from airtel that u have exceeded the limit . .. get data pack for maintaining the speed . . . they are frauds

Different experience here with BSNL. I need to walkin to BSNL customer care center to explain my over bill and make it correct. i'm tried. No complains in connectivity. I have Airtel connection in my office, no problem at all. Happy service :)

that is because u are confusing kbps with kBps. 512 kbps = 64 kBps. the 50-60 kbps that u said u are receiving is actually 50-60 kBps, which is obvious if u have 512kbps or 64kBps connection

all computer related memory units are multiples of 8 like, 1 byte = 8 bit, 1 Mb = 1024 KB etc(which is 32*32, a multiple of 8) so they can either say 256 kilo bits per second or 32 kilo bytes per second but 256 sounds something large and hence they use it to trick people.

Well, Sorry to ENGAGE MR. SWADESH lemme describe this to you 256 kbps and 32 kbps are not same. 256 kbps and 32 KBPS are same. Here kbps = kilo bits per second and KBPS = Kilo bytes per second. There are 8 bits in 1 byte So, 256 Kilo bits per second divided by 8 makes is equal to 32 Kilobytes per second. REMEMBER 1 BYTE = 8 BITS. Hope you have understood the difference between the two.... BSNL was good 5 years back and now it is worse, even MTNL has far better offers than bsnl, go to http://mtnlmumbai.in/index.php/unlimited-plan and check for your seld, why BSNL cannot provide plans atleast like MTNL if not better than that, and since BSNL is in mors rural areas it should have much better plan that MTNL. No,not at all.... It would depend upon the internet traffic. Suppose during midnight,users are less than daytime.So in that case,you'll get more speed that day time for sure... :) And as per your question,some of the brandwith would be used up for uploading..And some would be using for auto updates,etc,in the background(You can turn them off....visit Youtube for help)... At the Dombivli-MIDC Telephone Exchange (Kalyan Telecom District, Maharashtra), when enquired for the BBG Combo ULD 1000 plan, I was told that the BSNL has stopped providing modems and customers will require to purchase a modem at their own cost. as long a the connection or the network is good everything will good with bsnl if any thing goes wrong with the connection they will show teh hell...from past few day i have an issue broad band speed none of the technician are able to solve the problem in configuring my modem and teh customer care guys always they are dump guys they openly says we don`t know and finally some techs ask me to visit the local exchange.....god knows when these government companies will improve..... internet is really good im using it from past 3years but if things go wrong they will show the hell ....none of the techs in customer care are skilled and also the onsite visiting tech are skill they are dum trust me i have worked with AT&T USA...a company will be sued if they won`t respond..but here it is sorry services it hurts when i realize it is my countries company and it sucks Reply

Harsimran, I'm getting ULD 900 installed in Phillaur region. Here's answers to some of your questions. You won't be paying for the landline installation fee, New 550/- (Old 300/-) because you already have one. You won't be getting a free modem, basic or Wi-Fi as free modems have been abolished from 1st of Jan 2013 regardless of subscription. Wi-Fi modems will cost you 2100/- from BSNL or get one from the shops and it shouldn't take more than a few days to get the gear installed. Our installer is coming over tomorrow, Tuesday to install. Find more info regarding installation charges, free modems abolition and Allowance Usage on other pages here. If you ask me, I'd rather go for ULD 900 due to higher bandwidth.

The above user definately got his knickers in a twist. The above plan is not an UNLIMITED plan. Once 1.5 GB allownce has been used up the rest costs 20 paise per MB. The more you download the more you pay. If he had read the plan carefully he would have realised that between 2AM and 8AM downloads would have cost him nothing. Reply

Hi I have a BB Home Combo ULD 625 when I took it 2 years (may be 3 Years) the speed for the plan was 256 Kbps and now when I am continuing with it I am still getting 256 Kbps only. I contacted the BSNL office and they informed me that it will change to 512 Kbps automatically, but that is not the case now. Please advice on how to get 512 Kbps speed as promised by BSNL. First of all you need to realise that your speed goes down to 256 Kbps once your 4 GB allowance has been used up. Check your speed at the beginning of your billing period. If it stays at 256 Kbps during the whole month then you have reason to complain. Secondly, speed does not change 'automaticlly' it has to be changed. If another person asks for the same package in your area he will get it but you won't. If your local exchange won't do anything about it then complain higher up or upgrade the package then downgrade again. That might work. Reply

BSNL sucks at many levels! those monkeys promise you some 'download speed' according to your plan but you don't even get tenth of it when downloading! i'd sue BSNL if i had enough money! they're just thieves in AC offices. it even goes on decreasing as time goes by. i have 625 plan; at first, i got 25kbps download speed(those pigs promise 512 kbps til 4GB)and now i am getting 16 kbps. i just hope it doesn't dip any further. if you have money, i'd never suggest BSNL... >:( Reply

I have a BSNL plan "BB Home Combo ULD 900" and it used to be good until i encountered problem of frequent disconnection. I had registered through exchange and thru BSNL complaints IVR my pathetic experience of not being online and still paying for it !! which fell to deaf ears. Nobody is interested in understanding whats the problem they JUST CLOSE THE TICKET .. its a foolish .. nasty and a pathetic experience to be associated with BSNL. We have been using BSNL Telephones for past 20 Years & Broad band for past 4 years. Normally, we pay the Broadband charges on annual charges. Accordingly, we did last year also. We have Rs.900/- Home plan. This had a facility to use 400 free calls. Suddenly, the scheme is changed, and we are charged for the calls made to other service providers now. Guys i am staying near Adugodi, Koramagnala Forum Bangalore. and i am looking for unlimited BB connection which can give me high speed 2/4 MBPS upto 30/40 GB per month and thereafter 256/512 KBPS. I switched over to Home Combo plan a few months back from lower plan because BSNL promissed it is Unlimited and speed 2MBPS upto 4GB or so. I dont cross that limit. However I never got bandwidth speed more than 710 Kbps which corresponds to download speed of 88Kbps. From 01Mar2013 BSNL has increased plan charges toRs 650. BSNL is the worst customer care service only looking for the money i guess. I have BSNL broadband 750 unlimited plan. As per that i m suppose to get speed of 512 kbps to 1 Mbps bt i getting only 74.60 kbps since past 4 months i m suffering with this problem. I have to restart modem again and again and it work for few minutes after that net speed died. I have launched complaint so many times. So called engineers come, just open Google and run away with rude answer, you will get this much speed only or upgrade your plan. Customer care never pick up the call. I am fade up of this issue. Hi, I was heavily overcharged for BB usage in Dec Rs 2997 and Jan Rs 5147. I was in the Flexi 500 home plan from mid Dec to Jan month, as i was not having my laptop to connect, I was not using the internet. But still the system shows bb usage and charged the bill. I have made several phone complaints, written complaints to bsnl accounts, JE officer, sent several emails, but still no solution. The bsnl system also didnt alert me when the bb limit is crossed, i didnt get any sms too. only after i confirm Yes , the system should continue, due to this system error, i had to change my bb plan to unlimited again, though i dont have usage of it, my outgoing is barred now, im getting payment reminder calls, late fees now. iam using bsnl last 4 years & befor that i used it for 2 years.last 4 years i am using 1450 4 mbps till 20gb & after that 512 kbs plan unlimited with good coustomer support.only issue is that the cable cut down or dslink down.whenever i call them it fixed with in a hour.in the beginning i didnt get good speed and i directly escaleted this issue to superior then they lay down the fibre till my house from there they use the phone line .if suppose i want to use fibre tommrrow i will get instant connection since the cable is already there.i am happy with current connection only issue is that after 20 gb i have to stuck with 512 kpbs which is pain after using 4 mpbs. hi, iam using bsnl BB 512kbps plan. DLink 2750u is the modem i used(my own configuration). problem is my download speed is only 60kbps!! what the problem? its modem config issue? or any other? any one plz help! Reply

broadband connection is an additional facility on landline, after getting broadband connection, you can avail 20% discount for govt. employee.
