Distinctions Between the Campus-Based and Online, Accelerated
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Programs
SIMILARITIES
Program
Characteristics
• Offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UT Arlington
• Taught by UT Arlington professors
• Prepares students to take the RN licensing NCLEX exam
Selection Process • Prerequisite natural sciences and prerequisite courses GPAs (excluding the upper-
division elective) earned by the application deadline
 Additional consideration will be given to applicants who complete the following
by the application deadline:
o 30 or more required College of Nursing prerequisite credit hours earned at UT
Arlington
o 12 or more required College of Nursing prerequisite natural science credit
hours earned at UT Arlington
o Previous baccalaureate, masters, or doctorate degree earned in the United
States

Eligibility:
• Complete at least 12 of the 16 hours of required natural sciences (A&P I and II,
Microbiology, and General Chemistry)
• Have a minimum 2.5 GPA in the prerequisite/lower-division course work and the
required natural sciences
• Complete the designated sections of the HESI A2 Test (Math, Grammar,
Vocabulary, and Reading Comprehension) with a minimum math score of 65 and
minimum composite score of 300; Personality and Learning Styles are required, but
the results are not part of the admissions criteria
• TOEFL (Requirement differs from UT Arlington Policy): If the applicant’s native/first
language is not English and if he or she does not hold a bachelor’s or higher degree
from an accredited U.S. institution, the TOEFL exam is required for admission to the
College of Nursing even if the applicant has met one of the stated UT Arlington
University exemptions.
Applicants may also provide documentation of graduation from an English secondary
school in their native country or the United States. For additional information, visit

Selection Process

• Additional consideration also given
to applicants who complete six
hours of UT Arlington Honors
College courses (must be active in
Honors College) by the application
deadline.
• Priority will be given to applicants employed
by partner hospital systems offering clinical
sites during that semester of admission.
• Partner hospital clinical sites vary each
semester. To receive priority, applicants
must be employed at the time of the ranking
and the first day of class. Employment at a
partner hospital is not a guarantee of
admission into the upper-division nursing
courses.
