CHIROPRACTIC CARE What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a system of healing based on the theory that disease in the human body results from a lack of normal nerve function. Chiropractors are concerned with the relationship between the musculo-skeletal structures and functions of the body and nervous system in the restoration and maintenance of health.

The nervous system is the communi-cation link for your whole body: the brain, muscles, organs, and glands. When one or more vertebra are misaligned (subluxated), pressure is placed on the nerve, and messages to the body are distorted. Dr. Novick, as a San Diego chiropractor, locates and corrects those misalignments, relieving the nerve interference (pressure), thereby allowing your body to function properly. Mind-body relationship is instrumental in health and the healing process. In her San Diego chiropractic practice, Dr. Novick utilizes many holistic therapies to facilitate healing through the mind-body relationship.

Chiropractic Philosophy:

The structure and condition of the body influences how the body functions, and its ability to heal itself.

Facts About Chiropractic:
Chiropractic was established in 1895. Chiropractic is the second largest of the three primary health care professions in the United States and is growing each year. There are approximately 65,000 doctors of chiropractic in the United States and another 20,000 around the world. Chiropractic health care is provided for in such federal programs as Medicare, the Government Employees Hospital Association Benefit Plan, and the Postmasters Benefit Plan. Based uponstatistics compiled by the Department of Labor, Chiropractic was ranked the number ONE primary health care profession. Individuals who chose care for low back pain from Doctors of Chiropractic rated the health care they received much more highly than persons who sought care from family physicians. The Nervous System:

The incredible complexity of the nervous system seems beyond our understanding. Without interference, it works efficiently every sleeping and waking moment, to bring together and integrate the many body processes, to regulate the reactions and adjustments of the human body to its environment, and to form conscious thought. If the body is to respond to the demands of its environment while maintaining health,it is imperative that this marvelous system function at its peak efficiency. The brain and spinal cord are the director and orchestrator of all organs and systems in the body. They are housed in the skull and spinal column and contain 12-15 million nerve cells. The brain is the most active organ in the body, using 45% of the oxygen we breathe, and 75% of the energy produced from the carbohydrates we eat even though it is only less than 5% of total body weight. It must constantly monitor incoming nerve messages from all parts of the body that tell it about the demands of all organs and tissues to maintain good health, then it transmits the responses necessary to meet them. The brain is diagnosing the state of the body every mili-second 24 hours a day. Not only does it establish the proper diagnosis, but it also orders the perfect response. To function, there must be no interference in receiving and sending signals. Each message must flow both ways clearly. Dr. Debbie Novick, a San Diego chiropractor, is well-qualified to determine that the central nervous system is free from impediments. When nerve channels of communication are kept open, the brain will receive and send the signals. The chemicals needed for life and health are made by the body and directed by the brain precisely to the areas of need. For a sick individual, an appointment with San Diego chiropractor Dr. Debbie Novick is a means of health restoration by opening nerve channels so the body may heal itself. For the healthy, it is a periodic check-up to ensure early correction of potential nerve interference.

Sacro-Occipital Technique:

(S.O.T.) is a new and advanced concept of chiropractic pioneered and developed through the study, research, and clinical application of Dr. M.B. DeJarnette. For more than half a century Dr. DeJarnette researched and studied every aspect of physiology and anatomy and clinically found that human structural distortion falls into three basic groups. He labeled these groups as Categories I, II, and III. Category I is an imbalance in the muscles rather than the ligaments, still causing a disturbance in the alignment of the vertebral column leading to ill health because of the interference caused in normal signal transmission within the nervous system. Category II is a sprain of the sacroiliac ligament. The pelvis is composed of a triangular-shaped bone called the sacrum. The sacrum is surrounded by two hip bones (Iliac). The pelvis is held together by tough band-like tissues that hold bone to bone these are called ligaments are the basic foundation of the spine and supports the weight of the body. When ligaments tear or stretch, a separation of the bones in the pelvis occurs. When this happens, a counterrotation is set in motion which allows one hip bone to move forward, and the other to move backward; one leg becomes shorter, the other lengthens. As a result, of this long and short leg situation, a falling-domino effect is initiated and nerves are trapped up and down the spinal column. This results in mild to very severe discomfort. Category III is the state in which a person has herniated a disc because they left Category II untreated and then traumatized an already out of balance vertebral column. Dr. Novick uses innovative therapies, such as Sacro-Occipital technique in her San Diego chiropractic practice. Do you need a Chiropractor in San Diego or a Chiropractor in Encinitas?
