Charles Henry ‘Chuck’ Cooper was born in the year of September 29, 1926 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Cooper was the son of Daniel and Emma Cooper. His religion is Baptist. His father worked as a mailman and his mother was a former school teacher. In his generation, Pittsburg was still a segregated city. So, Chuck could hardly do things he wanted to do or go to places he would want to go to because of the segregation. In high school, Chuck played basketball and graduated at WESTINGHOUSE H.S.

In August 18 1951, Chuck Cooper married a woman named Pasty Jane Ware. SADLY, the marriage didn’t go so well, so they ended up getting a divorce. A few years later Cooper married Irva Lee in the year 1957, March 28. Cooper and Lee ended up having 4 children together.

Chuck was a talented African American who attended college at West Virginia State College. He left school to join the Navy and served from 44-45 during the late World War 2. Cooper went

back home and enrolled in Duquesne University. He attracted many scouts with his basketball talent and that’s when his basketball career rose. Cooper was signed to a basketball team called the ‘Boston Celtics’ He had been in this basketball team for about 4 years. After joining the Boston Celtics, he was put into a different team called the ‘Fort Wayne Pistons’; 2 years Then he ended his basketball career with the team named the ‘Milwaukee Hawks’

The average amount of points he made in all were 2,735 The average amount of games he played in was about 409

Cooper played basketball, for one last year with the all-black Harlem Magicians after suffering an excruciating car crash which gave him a bad back injury.
