The Position The Clinical Counselor provides educationally required counseling services to Tri-City SELPA students referred for assessment and assistance to promote mental health and personal growth; identifies the emotional needs of students with disabilities; and develops therapy goals and objectives for implementation through the Individual Education Plan (IEP). The clinical counselor also provides parent training and supervises interns. The SELPA AND COMMUNITY The districts that comprise the Tri-City SELPA are Beverly Hills, Culver City and Santa Monica/Malibu west of downtown Los Angeles, five miles north of Los Angeles International Airport The Tri-City SELPA has a long tradition of educational excellence and high standards. The community is involved, supportive, and proud of its schools. The member districts have ADA of approximently 22,000 students and a special education pupil count of approximately 2,200 students. . Essential Job Functions Provides individual, group and family psychological counseling services Develops and maintains psychological counseling intervention programs to meet student needs Conducts interviews, assessments and observations Participates in special assessment, IEP and other meetings Prepares reports, documents to support psychological counseling services for students Refers students to other public/private psychological counseling services Physical Abilities include sitting for extended periods, talking/hearing, and near and far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision. . Essential Job Functions - continued Provides in-service training to parents, community agencies, students, district personnel and others Performs related duties as required Job Requirements Skill providing psychological counseling to students with disabilities and their families, and conducting individual, group and family psychological counseling sessions; Knowledge of psychological counseling techniques for students with disabilities and their families; agencies and resources available to assist children; and federal and state laws concerning individuals with disabilities, family rights and counseling; Ability to identify the emotional needs of students; work as part of a multidisciplinary educational support team; develop and implement psychological counseling services; provide in-service training; work independently; communicate orally and in writing; maintain accurate records; meet deadlines; and establish and maintain professional relationships;

Desired Qualifications
Experience providing in-service training, knowledge and/or experience with a Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA), school district operations and an array of special education placement and service options, and knowledge of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process.

Minimum Qualifications
Valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential authorizing school social work services to students and/or one of the following licenses: Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Registered Marriage, Family and Child Counselor (MFCC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) (Cannot be an Intern License) Two years (2) of experience providing psychological counseling services.

The adopted criteria will be utilized during the application screening, interviewing and the final decision making process. The successful candidate will assume his/her position as soon a qualified candidate is selected. Salary and Contract Terms The Culver City Unified School District is offering an annual salary of $62,209.30, for a 177 work year 177 of service, 8 hours per day. In addition to the base salary, the District pays $2000 for a doctorate degree, a mileage stipend, and offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and their families, including medical, dental, vision and life insurance.
