At the heart of our success is our platform, a market-hardened foundation for all of our communication applications. We’ve designed the platform to optimize cloud-based service delivery for enterprises needing to deploy services to hundreds of thousands of users across multiple geographic locations. The platform is built on three layers, giving the enterprises ultimate control over their communications.
The Master Authorization Routing and Control System (MARCS) is Smoothstone’s decision making mechanism and resides between the application layer and the PSTN. MARCS is a proprietary system developed by Smoothstone to meet the needs of the mid-to –large size enterprises. MARCS is the brains and determines what features and applications are needed by a particular customer. Because of its distributed nature and redundancy, new applications can be easily added to meet a customer’s changing needs. Additionally, this design ensures that if any feature servers has an outage, the outage is contained and in most cases, transparent to the end user.

The Feature Controllers deliver various features to the phone including DND, hold, intercom, call park/pickup and call forward. A client’s needs determine which feature controller is used. Current Smoothstone Feature Controllers have the ability to handle well over 100,000 subscribers to each cluster. The Carrier Services Cluster is used for IP trunking solutions using SIP to deliver dial tone and services to various PBX types.
