Cloud is a metaphor for Internet
Before Cloud Computing -
You had a Data Center that housed servers for running applications
-
All of your applications and data existed on those servers usually at your organization’s location
-
Your network connected you to that server in the data center through your PC allowing you access to the data and applications
With Cloud Computing -
You subscribe to a service that is located in a distributed data center and usually on many servers
-
Your applications and data can exist in many locations
-
The Internet connects you to the service to access your data and applications using things like your web browser, mobile app, xbox, etc.
