(n 1an in .lack #, .oris the Animal, the main villain of the se2uel, managed to escape from a ma*imum'security prison, which is located on the moon. 3e wanted revenge on Agent 4, an agent from

the secret organi+ation who fights aliens, for taking out one of his arms and putting him behind bars for years. &o achieve his revenge, he traveled back in time to assassinate agent 4 and changed history during the progress. Agent 5, being the only one who reali+e the change in the time lapse, decides to travel back in time to stop .orus the Animal from assassinating his partner, Agent 4, and save the universe. 6n the other hand, ( chose to compare 1en in .lack # with 7eal Steel. “8hampions aren’t born, &hey’re made”. &his would be the tag line for 7eal Steel, directed by Shawn 9evy. (n a world set in a distant future, robots that are being controlled by humans now reign and replaced humans in the popular sport bo*ing. 8harlie 4enton, a former bo*er champion tried to make it big in robot bo*ing, but failed miserably and is on the verge of losing all his money. &his is when he learns that he had an years old son, 1a*, which will

change his life for the better. :ith these movies that ( chose to compare, ( will discuss about the differences between the main characters, the settings of the movies and how each movies are perceive as science fiction. (n 1en in .lack #, the main character, Agent 5, works for a secret organi+ation called 1en in .lack that helps protect the earth from evil aliens of the universe. Agent 5 is good at making fast decisions. &his can be seen as Agent 5 face .orus the animal near the epilogue. Agent 5 had a time machine on his hand as he face .orus the animal. Agent 5 rushes towards .orus and allows him to shoot his pro-ectiles at Agent 5, Agent 5 managed to tackle .orus and falls down from a considerably high location. &he momentum of him falling down the height allows the time machine to charge up, allowing him to go back to the moment before the pro-ectiles hit him. &his allows him to memori+e the direction of the pro-ectiles and allows him to avoid them with ease. 6n the

other hand, the setting of the movie is in the date of 5uly /, !;!. &his is the year where .orus the Animal :ould travel back in time to assassinate Agent 4. :hen Agent 5 ac2uired the time machine, he had to climb to the top of the <mpire State .uilding located in =ew >ork, America to be able to use the time machine. &he time machine aside, what classify this movie as science fiction the most would be the aliens. (n the movie, there is a psychic alien named ?riffin which can predict million of ways that will affect the future. @or e*ample, at the end of the movie, he predicted that if Agent 4 did not live any tips to the waiter, a meteor would smash the earth. (n 7eal Steel, the main character, 8harlie 4enton, a former notorious bo*er that is trying to shine in the world of robot bo*er. 8harlie can be seen as a stubborn person. &his could be seen as 8harlie bought a former world'class robot named =oisy .oy. 3e brought =oisy .oy and his son, 1a*, to an underground bo*ing ring. :hen he was given a lower ranked opponent to fight, he refuses and wanted the highest ranked opponent possible. &his leads to 1idas, the highest ranked robot bo*er possible, being given to him as an opponent. At the end of the fight, =oisy .oy was destroyed completely by 1idas, even though his son completely ob-ects his dad to fight 1idas. @or the settings of the movie, it was in the year of ABAB, when 8harlie managed to buy =oisy .oy, it was in a large garage with mechanical e2uipment everywhere. 3ow this movie is classify as science fiction is the bo*ing robots and how comple* the robots are operated. @or e*ample, Atom, the last robot obtained by 8harlie, was operated by mimicking the movements of 8harlie. (f not Atom cannot operate at all.

“&he term )science fiction’ resists easy definition” (Adam 7oberts, p. %. &his statement can be seen as true as it is very hard do define science fiction. After watching the movies and comparing them, ( noticed the difference between the main characters, the settings and how they are perceive as science fiction.
