B.Sc. / B.Eng. (Hons) Computer Networks and Security
The main aim of the Computer Networks and Security award is to foster specialist skills and academic knowledge in the area of network and computer security. This award aims to produce graduates fit for industry as computer security or network security professionals, IT security consultant or network analysts.

Admission Requirements
The qualifications required for admission are 2 Passes at GCE (Advanced Level) Examination and 5 Passes inclusive of 2 Credit Passes for English and Mathematics at GCE (Ordinary Level) Examination, or successful completion of the APIIT Foundation Programme. Those with additional qualifications may receive advanced entry to higher levels of the programme.

Programme Structure
A diverse range of teaching strategies including lectures, tutorials, portfolio of practical exercises, continuous assessment, group and individual projects and seminars given by external speakers is employed to achieve the essential learning outcomes. The learning outcomes of each module are mapped onto computing-related cognitive and practical abilities. These are intended to maximize graduate’s ability to solve professional problems relating to computer networks, the security of networks and computer systems and the management of large distributed installations of such systems. Students undertake a computer networks and security project in their final year which enables them to extend their knowledge and skills significantly beyond the learning outcomes of the modules previously studied. Students are required to carry out detailed investigation in to computer networks and security aspects, tools and techniques that are used in the development and implementation of reliable and secure networks. Each student will be assigned a supervisor to guide and support the student in order to successfully complete the project.

Level C: The Level C is a one-year full-time programme, and comprises the following modules:
Introduction to Software Development Hardware & Software System & Graphics Maths & Statistics for Computing Introduction to Security Technologies System and Database analysis Web Design and Development Algorithms and Data structures in C Introduction to Networking with LAN & WAN

Level I: The Level I is a one-year full-time programme, and comprises the following modules:
Professional & Enterprise Development Advanced Routing Router Security Technologies Introduction to IP Telephony LAN Switching and WAN Networking Converged Networks Mathematics and Algorithmics Imaging and special Effects

Level H: The Level H is a nine-month full-time programme, and comprises the following modules:
Advanced Switching Computer Systems Security Malicious Software and Security Programming Project Management Network Service Quality Computer Networks and Security Project

Computer networks and security graduates can apply their skills in all areas of the computing networks and security industry.
