Configuring an Email Client
How do I Start Using My Email Account? You may use a POP email client, which is a program on your computer used to send and receive email. Most computers come with an email client already installed on them. For Example: Windows users should see Outlook Express under "Programs" in their "Start Menu". Mac users should see Mac Mail in their "Applications" Folder. Please select your POP Email Client from the list below for detailed step-by-step instructions on setting up your email account: Outlook 2007 Outlook 2003 Outlook Express Mozilla Thunderbird

Mississippipta.org POP Email Account Settings Below are the Mississippipta.org POP account settings; you may use these settings to configure your POP email account with any POP email client. Hostname Settings Incoming Mail Server: mail.mississippipta.org Outgoing Mail Server: mail.mississippipta.org Port Settings Unsecured Port Settings (no encryption - not recommended): POP Port: 110 SMTP Port: 2525 Additional Settings POP Username: [email protected] - Be sure to list your Full Email Address as the username.

POP Password: The password you were given when your PTA email was created. If you do not know the password please contact [email protected] SMTP Authentication: Enabled - The same Username/Password as your incoming (POP) mail server settings above.

Outlook 2007 Setting up your Email Address in Outlook 2007 You may follow the instructions below to setup your email address through Outlook 2007. 1. Open Outlook 2007. 2. In the top menu bar, click Tools and then Account Settings. 3. Click on New under the "E-mail" tab. 4. Select the Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP option and click Next. 5. At the bottom of the pane, click the check box next to Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next. 6. Select the Internet E-mail option and click Next. 7. You will then need to enter the following information: o Under "User Information", enter Your Name and your E-mail Address in the corresponding fields. o Under "Server Information", select your Account Type as POP3 and enter mail.mississippipta.org in the Incoming mail server field and mail.mississippipta.org in the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field. o Under "Logon Information", for your User Name, enter your Full Email Address. Then, enter the Password you created when you setup your new email address.

8. Click on the More Settings button then select the "Outgoing Server" tab in the next window. 9. Check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. 10. Make sure that the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option is selected.

11. Select the "Advanced" tab and change the Incoming server (POP3) to 995. Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) port to 465. o Click the check box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Incoming server (POP3) and select SSL next to Use the following type of encrypted connection. 12. Click OK at the bottom of the "Internet E-mail Settings" window.

13. Click Next and then Finish in the "Add New E-mail Account" window to save your settings.

Outlook 2003 Setting up your Email Address in Microsoft Outlook You may follow the instructions below to setup your email address through Microsoft Outlook. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Open Microsoft Outlook. In the top menu bar, click Tools and then E-mail Accounts. Select Add new e-mail account and click Next. Select POP3 and click Next. You will then need to enter the following information: o Under "User Information", enter Your Name and your E-mail Address in the corresponding fields. o Under "Logon Information", for your User Name, enter your Full Email Address. Then, enter the Password you created when you setup your new email address. o Under "Server Information", enter mail.mississippipta.org in the Incoming mail server (POP3) field and mail.mississippipta.org in the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field.

Click on the More Settings button then select the "Outgoing Server" tab in the next window. 7. Check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. 8. Make sure that the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option is selected.

Select the "Advanced" tab and change the Incoming server (POP3) to 110. Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) port to 2525. o Also make sure to check the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Incoming server (POP3) and Outgoing server (SMTP). 10. Click OK at the bottom of the "Internet E-mail Settings" window.

Click Next and then Finish in the "E-mail Accounts" window to save your settings.

Outlook Express Setting up your Email Address on Outlook Express You may follow the instructions below to setup your email address through Outlook Express. 1. 2. 3. Open Outlook Express. In the top menu bar, click Tools and then Accounts. Click on the Add button and select the Mail option.

Then, enter your Display name in the corresponding field and click Next.

You will then need to enter your full email address in the E-mail address field. Click Next.

In the drop-down menu, select POP3 and enter the following information: o Enter mail.mississippipta.org in the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server field. o Enter mail.mississippipta.org in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field and click Next.

In the Account name field, enter your Full Email Address. Then, enter the Password you created when you setup your new email address. 8. Click Next and then Finish to save your settings.

In the "Internet Accounts" window, select your new account and click on Properties.

You will now need to setup SMTP Authentication and change the Outgoing mail (SMTP) port number. Please follow the steps below: o Select the "Servers" tab and check the box next to My server requires authentication.

Click on the Settings button and make sure that the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option is selected. Click OK.

Select the "Advanced" tab and change the Incoming server (POP3) from 110 to 995. Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) port from 25 to 465. Also make sure to check the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Incoming server (POP3) and Outgoing server (SMTP). Click Apply and then OK to save these settings.

You may then click Close to exit the "Internet Accounts" window.

Mozilla Thunderbird
Setting up your Email Address on Mozilla Thunderbird You may follow the instructions below to setup your email address through Mozilla Thunderbird. 1. 2. 3. 4. Open Mozilla Thunderbird. In the top menu bar, click Tools and then Account Settings. In the "Account Settings" window, click on the Add Account button. Under "New Account Setup", select Email account and click Next.

Under "Identity", enter Your Name and your Email Address then click Next.

Under "Server Information", enter mail.mississippipta.org in the Incoming Server field and click Next. Please note, that if you already have an email account in Thunderbird it will use the existing outgoing server settings. If you have not set up an email with Thunderbird yet, you will do that shortly.

Under "User Names", enter your Full Email Address in the Incoming User Name and Outgoing User Name fields then click Next. Please note, that if you already have an email account in Thunderbird it will use the existing outgoing server settings.

Under "Account Name", enter the name you would like to call your account in the Account Name field and click Next.

Click Finish to save your settings and exit the "Account Wizard".

You will now need to setup SMTP Authentication and change the SMTP Server port number. Please follow the steps below: o In the "Account Settings" window, select Outgoing Server (SMTP) on the left side. o You will then see our outgoing mail server (mail.mississippipta.org) in the box to the right. Select this server and click Edit.

In the "SMTP Server" window under "Security and Authentication", check the box next to Use name and password and enter your Full Email Address in the User Name field. Next, under "Settings", change the SMTP Port number to 2525 and click OK.

11. Finally, click OK in the "Account Settings" window to save all of your settings.
