International Congress of the Brazilian Geophysical Society & EXPOGEF 2011
SulAmérica Convention Center • Rio de Janeiro, 15 - 18 August 2011

Dear Colleague, On behalf of the Organizing Committee and the SBGf Directory Board, we would like to welcome all participants of the Rio 2011 Conference and Exhibition. This meeting, the Twelfth International Congress of the Brazilian Geophysical Society (SBGf), is also supported by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) and the Union of Latin American Geophysicists (ULG) and marks the beginning of a new level of event in terms of size. We expect to offer a favorable environment to discuss all the advances in scientific developments in technology and science. The delegates will find, in the official program, a list of approximately 500 papers from which they can choose those that best match their professional interests. Take some time to look at the official program, make your selection, and have three full days of discussions. Please spend some time at the EXPOGEF 2011. More than 1.500 m2 were sold for those companies that want to exhibit their products and services. This is also a good oportunity to be up-to-date with what is new in the industry. Furthermore, don’t miss the social events related with the conference. The Organizing Committee has prepared the Rio 2011 Closing Dinner to take place in a very pleasant venue, the Rio Yacht Club. This is an excellent opportunity to see the beautiful Rio at sunset, to meet old friends and to make new ones. Finally, take some time to go on a city tour. You will have the opportunity to visit the various famous sites, in particular Corcovado that was elected as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Rio is known internationally for its beauty, charm and friendly environment. Take the time to see it for yourself. A special invitation is also extended to spouses and other family members. We hope that you enjoy the conference and that your stay in Rio de Janeiro is remarkable. See you all in Rio!!

We then help our customers to increase their exploration success through modelling, integrating and interpreting these data. Measuring wellbore resistivity has been a fundamental formation evaluation tool since the 1920s. Marine CSEM surveying uses the same principles to maps resistive bodies, such as commercial-scale hydrocarbon reservoirs, from the seabed. This makes it a perfect partner for seismic techniques, which provide structural information. Together, and with other subsurface information, these methods form a powerful set of exploration tools.
