Pavement Consulting Services
For over 30 years, Dynatest Consulting has provided pavement consulting services to state, county, and local agencies as well as commercial and general aviation airports. Our consulting staff includes experienced pavement engineers and technicians who are committed to providing practical, accurate, and effective solutions to our clients. Dynatest Consulting specializes in pavements, and we offer several pavement testing, evaluation, and management services, including: Pavement Structural Testing and Analysis – Dynatest’s Falling Weight Deflectometers (FWDs) and Heavy Weight Deflectometers (HWDs) are deployed to accurately measure both roadway and airfield pavement surface deflections. Dynatest’s engineers analyze pavement surface deflections to determine pavement layer moduli values and the remaining service life of each pavement tested. Our engineers may also use surface deflection data to determine pavement rehabilitation needs, such as overlay thickness requirements. Pavement Profiling – Dynatest’s Road Surface Profilers (RSPs) are deployed for measuring both the longitudinal and transverse profiles of roadway pavements. Longitudinal profile measurements are analyzed on-the-fly to calculate International Roughness Index (IRI) and Ride Number (RN) values. Transverse profile measurements are analyzed on-the-fly to quantify rutting. Pavement Friction Testing – Dynatest’s Pavement Friction Tester (PFT) and Runway Friction Tester (RFT) are used to measure the friction characteristics of roadway and airfield pavements, respectively. Friction measurements are commonly used to identify and quantify potential skid-related issues along a pavement. Pavement Condition Surveys (Manual and Automated) – Dynatest performs both manual and automated pavement condition surveys. The majority of our pavement inspectors are former Department of Transportation (DOT) employees, who bring with them decades of experience inspecting and evaluating pavements. For automated pavement condition surveys, Dynatest deploys its MultiFunction Vehicle (MFV), which is an integrated data collection system that captures high-resolution pavement surface images, right-of-way (ROW) images, and longitudinal and transverse profile data. All collected data are conveniently referenced via GPS. Additional Services – Dynatest’s engineers are fluent with several pavement management systems, and we have implemented and updated systems for agencies ranging in size from large state DOTs to smaller local agencies. In addition, our engineers provide on-call pavement testing, engineering, and management support services as well as customized training in pavement testing, engineering, and management principles and practices.
