The Incubator School, an innovative LAUSD-‐UTLA pilot school collocated at Westchester Enriched Sciences
Magnets, is seeking an experienced, passionate, exceptionally qualified, self-‐starting counselor for 2015-‐
16. We will begin our 3rd year with Grades 6-‐9 and will add one grade per year until we reach full capacity

Qualifications
Applying counselors MUST currently have an LAUSD contract AND be willing to sign a pilot school elect-‐
to-‐work agreement
● Commitment to Inc.’s core beliefs and iterative startup philosophy is essential, as is a passion for
nurturing and inspiring a diverse student body
● Desire to build and grow the culture, processes, and institutions of a new school
● High level of flexibility and adaptability
● Ability to work collaboratively with a dedicated staff and involved parent body
● Strong understanding of positive behavior culture-‐building and practices
● Awareness of and interest in Social-‐Emotional Learning research (Dweck, Duckworth, Seligman, etc.)
● Experience in or willingness to be trained in Council (http://ojaifoundation.org/discover-‐council_)
● Technological expertise and a willingness to expand and share this expertise, including gathering,
analyzing, and modifying systems in response to data
● Familiarity with LAUSD’s systems, including creating master schedules
● Interests outside of school and a willingness to share these interests with the school community
● Experience working with 10-‐16 year-‐olds preferred
● Entrepreneurial/business experience, multilingualism, experience with special needs students
including autism spectrum and gifted/talented a plus
