The Candlelight House Tour begins at 5pm and will continue until 9pm. While on the route, enjoy the songs of Skidmore College’s holiday carolers “The Mistletones.” The tour will be followed by an afterparty at Union Gables Bed & Breakfast, beginning at 7:30pm and ending at 10pm. GREEN MOUNTAIN CHRISTIAN CENTER ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR THE FIFTH ANNUAL GREEN MOUNTAIN CHRISTMAS on Dec. 14 and 15, at Green Mountain Christian Center (GMCC), 440 Main St. Bennington, Vermont. The plans include the Gift Room for Parents in Need, gift wrapping, crafts for the children, Christmas music, cookies and refreshments, and other Christmas tide activities. The program is a four part series where youth will 1) explore living history, 2) choose a person or time period they are interested in, 3) research and learn about that person or era, and 4) participate in a Living History Fair where youth will share what they have learned with others. SARATOGA NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK will close its driving tour road for the winter starting on Monday, December 3. While the tour road closes for the season, the Park Visitor Center is open every day from 9:00am to 5:00pm, except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Days. Also, the grounds of the Battlefield are open to pedestrian use during daylight hours, 7 days a week, and its hiking trails make a great place for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Looking ahead to 2013, be sure to mark your calendar for the park’s 18th annual Frost Faire, on Saturday, January 26, from 11am to 3pm. Indoor and outdoor family fun for all ages! Snow tubing “The Big Hill,” horse and carriage rides, a warming tent, nature hike, bonfires, and Revolutionary War soldier musket and cannon firing demonstrations round out a great day. Saratoga National Historical Park is located between Route 4 and Route 32 at the north end of the Town of Stillwater, NY. Cambridge Connects is a volunteer based community group supported by the Village of Cambridge, dedicated to providing free family friendly events and activities. HOLY CROSS CHURCH NEWS- Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church is Sunday is at 9:00 am. There is a children’s Liturgy offered at Sunday Mass to which all are welcome. The children will be taking part in a Jesse Tree at Mass during Advent. A vigil Mass is held at St. Patrick’s in Cambridge at 4pm. Intercessory Prayer is held on Tuesdays at 8:30am. Morning Prayer on Thursday s at 8:30 am. Reconciliation Services during Advent will be held at St. Patrick’s on Wed., the 4th at 7pm, and at Holy Cross on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 4pm. The Sunday school group is sponsoring an ‘Afternoon with St. Nicholas’, on Dec. 9 at 2 pm. There will be singing of carols and a welcome to St. Nicholas where children may talk to him and get a special treat. Cameras are welcome. An International Potluck will be share. Bring a holiday dish or dessert from your own or your favorite country, culture or tradition. Please include a card with the name of the recipe and country of origin. A sign up sheet will be found in the back of the church. Horse drawn wagon rides will be offered outside at 2:30, pending the weather. Pueblo to People hosted a very successful Fair Trade Sale on November 25th at Holy Cross, before and after Mass. There was a large variety of items; scarves, weaved bowls, wooden items, jewelry, musical Instruments, all made by indigenous peoples, and Fair Trade Coffee. It will be held in Cambridge at St. Patrick’s after Mass on Dec. 2 and 9, at Cambridge school Dec. 8 from 10am – 4 pm, and at Holy Cross before and after Mass on Dec. 16. Altar Rosary’s ever popular cookie sale will take place Dec. 16, after Mass. Cookies should be in by the 15 so the packages can be prepared. HOLIDAY WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN at the Chapman Historical Museum on Saturday, December 15th from 1-3 p.m. The program includes reading, several craft stations, music and refreshments. $5/child, accompanying adults free. Reservations are recommended since space is limited. Call 518-793-2826 to reserve a place for this fun event. In addition, participants can come early, or stay after, and walk through the DeLong House and experience an 1869 Dutch Christmas. There is no admission fee to the house.
