Current Events Project The Netherlands hold a constitutional monarchy which means that the Netherlands hold a Royal Family, currently the crown is being held by her Majesty Queen Beatrix. The article that I found, Orange Succession, talks about Queen Beatrix planning advocate the thrown and hand it over to her eldest son Willem-Alexander the Prince of Orange. The Prince of Orange is the title given to the first in line to the Dutch throne which in this case is Willem. Queen Beatrix took the throne on Queen’s day April 30th 1980; this is the day she plans on advocating the throne, April 30th 2013, marking exactly 33years of her reign as queen. Her planned heir is Prince Willem.  I chose this article because with the title Orange Succession you can’t go wrong also because the title hints at royalty which always arouses sometime of excitement in most  Because of this succession some policies of the Dutch Royal Family might change just due to the change in power, it will a slight effect on a global stand point but the biggest effect will be with the citizens of the Netherlands, the fact that a change of royal power makes this article relevant.  This articles shows the government of a monarchy which we have gone over in previous chapters, it also shows how now power swaps have become more peaceful.  In my opinion this article is positive, the queen is stepping down on her own terms and the country gets a new perspective from a fresh generation.
