Data Domain Monitoring from Enterprise Manager

1) Data domai domain n can be monitor monitored ed and managed through through ente enterpri rprise se manager.. Enterprise manager can be accessed using the following manager !".

Enter the login credentials %ser accounts are setup in Enterprise Manger by &dministrator.. 'f you do not ha(e 'D ask your a &dministrator administrator dministrator to create one.)

*) Check DD Network Status 1. Status 1. Select the DD +etwork icon in the +a(igational pane. 2. Click the Summary tab. ,he DD +etwork Summary (iew appears. ,he Enterprise Manager DD Network   Summary presents key key statistics to understand the health of Data Domain system. ,he System Status Space sage and Systems panes pro(ide key factors to help you recogni-e problems immediately and to allow you to drill down to the system ehibiting the problem.

System status summari-es the total number of systems reporting to enterprise manager. ,he /! /!eachab eachable le Systems0 and /,otal Systems0 should always be'mmediate /10 since there is one DD23 reporting reporti ng to enterprise manager manager. . &n attention is re4uired if no DD system is reporting to Enterprise manager. ,he problem could be either the system is o5ine or the network path to the system is down.. down Make sure the 6le system status is /!unning0 /!unning0 and Systems Status has /+o &lerts0 in /Systems0 7ane. &ny status other than this should re4uire re4uir e immediate attention. ,he other possible status for /8 /8ile ile system Status0 in fault condition would be disabled or the system is not reachable.

The space usage pane is informational. a ll Data Total re!Compression# ,he total amount of data sent to all Domain systems by backup ser(ers. ,his is the data written before compression. data ata amount of all systems after Total ost!Compression# ,he total d compression has been performe performed. d.

9) Select the DD system from n na(igation a(igation pane. Clic Click k the plus sign % : ) net to DD +etwork in the +a(igational pane and click a system name. ,he Status ; Summary (iew appears.  ,he Summary page shows important important high<le(el infor information mation about the selected system. 't contains the &lerts 8ile System Ser(ices and =ardware =ardwar e panes. Clicking any one of these panes takes you to the area of the Enterprise Manager that pro(ides more detail on the topic. Make sure no alerts here.

B)  ,he 8ile 8ile System pane shows a summ summary ary of 6le system statistic statistics s including the operational status compression factor and data written statistics. &lerts are generated when the 6le system is at 23 2? and 133 full. ,o recei(e these alerts add the user to the alert emailing list. ) ,he =ardware paneand presents theenclosures. status of the system hardware hardware  such=ar as dware disk dri(es optional ,he color<code color<coded d icons show the operational status %green for normal or red for degraded or failed). & count shows the number of enclosures and the number of dri(es per condition %operational spare and failed). Click an icon to go to the =ardware ; Storage page %see Managing das hboards refer to the total number of errors Note( Counts on the dashboards not the inde number of the component ehibiting the error.

Monitoring through comman& line Data domain can be monitored fro from m command line. se 7utty to login to DD.
