Computer Recycling Program
• 1999 Began as Official Chicago Program to provide
1 computer for every 5 students in Chicago Public and Catholic
Schools (K-12) and City Colleges of Chicago.
• Required over 250,000 computers a year to meet this goal.
• No budget to pay for that many computers
• Recycled computers became the most cost-effective and
immediate solution to bridge Chicago’s Digital Divide
