• Many students seek an experience environment, which does not carry the stigma of being a minority • HBCUs are better equipped to provide extracurricular and co-curricular experiences that’s viewed as value-added • HBUCs campus tends to be more effective because of the encouragement, support, and nurturing coming from Black males not found in some homes • Rather than adopting a sink or swim attitude

• IMPROVING RETENTION 1. Hiring quality; dedicated faculty to teach at HBCUs regardless of race 3. Measures put into place to ensure that faculty is aggressively involved in student mentorship 5. Relevant programs in high-demand areas
