Introduction:

Indeed is an Indie duo from Leicestershire, England. They have
recently released their new album ‘voyage’ featuring their hit single
‘Good Things’ that has recently reached the top the 10 in the Indie
charts. The duo, which consists of Teagan Mitchell and Sophie Lee,
are touring the United Kingdom this year, travelling to places such
as Brighton, Edinburgh and Cork. In this exclusive interview you will
find out things that you never knew about this up and coming
sensation.
Teagan
Sophie
Q1. So, Sophie and Teagan, you seem really close friends, how did
you both meet?
Yeah we are really good friends and have been very since we were
around 7. We went to the same primary school.
Yeah I moved to the primary school Teagan was at in year 3 and at
first we didn’t get along (laughs). I didn’t speak to her for the first
few months because I was quite a shy kid. Once we started talking I
released how much we had in common and we were inseparable
after that.
(Nods) Sophie always used to come to my house and we used to
pretend we had our own band and we were on stage.
(Laughs) It was really fun; we used to sing into hairbrushes at the
top of our voices. We have just been close ever since.
Q2. So have you always had this dream of creating music?
Yeah, we both have wanted to be musicians for as long as we can
remember. It was just a coincidence that we both met each other
and shared the same passion.
It began with just a dream that we thought was never going to
become a reality, I mean most 7 year olds want to be ‘famous’. It
has amazed us both that we have come as far as we have.
Q3. If there was one thing you could tell those 7 year old children,
what would it be?
I’d say to never give up. Obviously when we were 7 our
imaginations were crazy, we never once thought of not believing we
were going to become singers and we thought it would be easy but
as we got older our dream began to become less and less realistic, if
we had given up we wouldn’t be sitting here right now. This is who
we have always wanted to be.
Yeah I would say the same and to just enjoy the ride. This has
always been my dream and I have loved every second of the
journey we have travelled to get where we are today. If either of us

Quinn MacArthur
had given up, we wouldn’t be going on tour or have our own album
out, it’s crazy.
Q4. Well it’s great you kept following your dreams because I love
your music. Could you tell me the reasoning behind your single
‘Good Things’?
We wrote that song when we were both 15, so 4 years ago. We were
obsessed with the idea of becoming successful artists. We wanted
people to hear our music so much.
Yeah we loved the idea of going on tour and just living the life
musicians live. At that time, those eight years we had been waiting
to be heard seemed like a lifetime.
We kept reminding ourselves ‘good things come to those who wait’.
We knew that nothing would happen instantly. We understood that if
we wanted to get where we dreamed of getting, we would have to
work hard and be patient. That’s when we wrote ‘Good Things’.
It’s about being patient and sending the message that if you work
hard for a while, everything will work out and you will get to where
you want to be, no matter what your dream is.
Q5. Wow so it seems like there is a big story behind that song, is it
the same for all of your music?
Yeah we write all of our songs based on our life stories. We feel as
though the music is more meaningful and they allow people to get
to know us a lot more. We figured that there is so much music that
is about love and break ups that we wanted our music to be
different. We wanted our music to be songs that people could relate
to or just cheer them up when they are going through hard time.
Yeah, like Sophie said, we want people to get to know us through our
music. We intend to let them in and allow them to be able to relate
to us. It’s very important to us.
Q6. So would you never write a song about love?
If there was a time in our lives that we wanted to write a song based
on love, we would. However, it would be based on our life and a
story that would come with that stage of our life. We meant that we
don’t want to make all of our music about that. We don’t want that
to be all people associate us with.
Yeah we have nothing against musicians who write music about love
or break ups, we just don’t want that to be all we are about.
Q7. OK, so what is being on tour like? Do you enjoy it? Is it what you
thought it would be like?
It is amazing being on tour, there is nothing better. We have so
much fun, we are travelling with each other and preforming to
people every night all over the UK. It is what we have always
wanted to do and dreamed of doing for our whole life.

Quinn MacArthur
Yeah it is not what we expected at all, it is a lot more challenging
that it seems but I wouldn’t change anything for the world. Some
people’s ideal life is not living on a bus but it adds to the
excitement. (Laughs) Going to sleep and waking up in a totally
different part of the UK is exciting.
We don’t want the tour to end. This is the best thing we have ever
done.

Q8. It sounds pretty special, so, what is a typical day on tour like for
Indeed?
Well we wake up at around 12 o’clock on the bus. We would have
had a gig the night before so we sleep about the time it takes to get
to the next venue. We wake up and do the normal things like have
breakfast, go on social media, those kinds of things. We then have
to rehearse around 1pm. We have to make sure that everything is
set up how it needs to be for the night. This takes around 4 hours
once Coast has rehearsed too, they are our support act. Those boys
are amazing, highly talented.
Yeah so around this time it is 5pm, we go back to the bus, chill a
little, have dinner maybe go to some local attractions. We just pass
the time for a couple of hours. Then it is show time (laughs). Coast
preform for half an hour, the crowd love them, they are amazing.
When they are finishes, it normally takes about 20 minutes to set all
of our things up so we end up going on at around 8. We play for an
hour and a half and then stay around after so that we can meet
people who have attended the show.
Yeah that’s something we love to do. We love meeting and thanking
the people who have helped get us to where we are today, it’s really
fun.
Thank you very much for talking to me girls, I wish you the best with
your new album and the rest of your tour.
Thank you very much for having us.
Thank you.
