Student grants and loans
The information mentioned below is only for Dutch students and students from the EU/EEA 1. The
information is based on the data from DUO for the academic year 2012-2013.

Student grant
As an MSc in Management student, you will probably live on campus. This means that you will receive a
student grant of €272,46 per month, because you are living on your own and not at your parents. Students
are allowed to receive this student grant for a maximum of 4 years. If you already received the student
grant for 4 years, you may apply for a government loan.

Government loan
There are two ways of getting a government loan. One way is when you have not succeeded your student
grant. When this is the case you are able to borrow an extra €283,86 per month in addition to the basic
student grant. The second way is when you already received a student grant for 4 years. After these 4 years
you are able to borrow a maximum of €873,12 per month for a maximum of three years.

Tuition fee loan
The tuition fee loan is for students who pay a higher tuition fee in comparison the governmental
supported universities. As the tuition fee for the MSc in Management program is higher you may apply for
the Tuition fee loan (Collegegeldkrediet). This means you are allowed to borrow a maximum of €764,58
per month next to your governmental loan/student grant.

Conditions for a loan
You are allowed to get a loan from DUO without a guarantee from a third party, because it is taken out in
the student’s name. The rate of the interest for 2013 was set to 0.6%. You should take into account that
this rate varies per year. Paying off the loan with interest begins in January, 2 academic years after
completion of the MSc in Management program. This means when you graduate in January 2015, you are
obliged to start paying off your loan in January 2018. The maximum time that you are allowed to pay off
the loan is 180 months. The income you make from January 2018 is taken into account in the process of
paying off your loan.
This table gives you an indication of the amount you need to pay back to DUO each month.
