…………………………………………………………………………………………………
ANSWER :
The biggest difference between web-based learning and traditional learning is in
communication issues. Web-based learning offers many opportunities for interaction with
both fellow students and instructors. Communication can take place via various
communication tools such as e-mail, telephone, chat and so on. In a traditional way of
learning communication and interaction take place mostly at the same time and place as faceto-face meetings.
Web-based learning enables learner-centered approach. Learning is seen as an
active construction of meaning. The main idea behind teaching is to guide and facilitate
learning. In traditional learning teacher-centered approach is more common, teacher
giving/providing knowledge and students passively receiving it.
As a result from new teaching and learning approaches student assessment in web-based
courses is also different. In a classroom setting it is usual to have an oral or written exam after
the course. The most popular ways to assess students in web-based learning are:
1

Discussion Forums
*where teacher can observe the student's active participation
Online Multiple Choice Test
* where you can do self-test
E-Portfolio
* where you have collected all your material and assignments electronically during
the course
Report Or Essay
* where you can analyze and express your comprehension based on the content of
the course.

Answer :
Learning theories and approaches is one of the advantage factor in Web-based
learning. New learning theories and approaches enable to learn and teach in a more effective
way. Students can experience a sense of equality. Course work and challenging assignments
are stimulating for knowledge building.
Web based learning enables student to be Independent and learner centered learning
where students can work at their own pace, when they want. Web-based learning enables to
study more deeply areas of interest. It encourages exploring material on your own and
enables to skip over materials already mastered. Web-based learning supports personalized
learning and is self-directed. It builds self-knowledge and self-confidence and encourages
students to take responsibility for their own learning.
Web Based Learning offers flexibility in timing of participation. Web-based learning
enables to join discussions at any hour and encourages also those who don't like to speak. It
facilitates learning through a variety of activities. Learners have access to courses, which
enables to reduce travel time and costs. In contrast to lectures given at a fixed time, learners
can access a WBL tutorial or virtual patient at any time day or night.

Answer :

The disadvantage of Learning theories and approaches is Teachers and learners have
to adopt new learning theories and approaches. Role changes of teachers and learners may
cause frustration and confusion. Without the common structures of a traditional class,
students may feel lost or confused about course activities and deadlines.
Learners who are not self-motivated, self-directed and independent are not able to
plan their own learning and may have problems. Material and assignment instructions might
be too complicated to understand independently. Some of the students may lose motivation
without certain deadlines. Independent learning requires certain skills: technological,
communication skills, self-motivation and effective study habits.
Participating in an asynchronous online discussion group also offers flexibility, but it
is tempered by the need to respond to communications from other group members in a timely
manner and adhere to agreed schedules. Learners with low motivation or bad study habits
may fall behind. They may have difficulties in organizing their learning.

Answers :
Web-based learning provides interaction between students and instructors.
Students can share their ideas with other students, which may help to understand
the material better. They can gain different ideas and information from other
students. Students able to find a solution when they discuss any problem regarding
education with other students.
Web-based learning enables students to access to materials. Students can
study anywhere and anytime if they have an access to computer and Internet. Webbased learning provides continual and also direct access to materials, resources in
many different formats and of good quality.
Web-based learning encourages students to have contact with the instructors.
Working on the web offers an opportunity to communicate with students using e-mail,
discussion boards etc. Teachers receive students' work quickly and they provide
timely feedback to students' questions.

Prohibits those who are not active learners in a group. Human contact is
missing as interaction is relied on electronic communication. Learners can’t develop
their communication skill because they rely on electronic communications. Later on,
they might face difficulty to participate in presentation when they have to present.
Problems with technology might prevent the access: low speed connection,
difficulties to download information, problems with communication tools. Some
courses and materials might be out of date. There may be lack of quality control.
Web-based learning brings some problem for students to have contact with
the instructors. Teachers receive students' work quickly and they provide timely
feedback to students' questions. However, Teachers are overloaded with students
and their contacts. Students may feel isolated from the instructor and classmates.
Instructor may not always be available when students are studying or need help.

Answer :
There are three types of web – based projects. The first type in web-based project is
Interpersonal Exchanges that refers to students communication via technology with other
students and also teachers. One of the example of Interpersonal Exchanges in web-based
project is Keypals. In this project teacher link up each students with a partner or penpal in
a distant location to whom the students writes letters. Then, Electronic Mentoring is one
more examples of Interpersonal Exchanges The Electronic mentoring note the importance of
subject matter experts when designing online activities. Guidance may be one to one link
between students and expert resources or may take the form of chats, discussion groups,
collaboration zones, or learning communities. Virtual Field Trips is another example for
Interpersonal Exchanges. It is the simplest form fills classroom screens with visual images of

a place that students would not routinely be able to travel. It bring real world situation into
the classroom and allow students learning to be more authentic. Electronic Publishing is
also includes in the examples of

Interpersonal Exchanges. Electronic publishing helps

students to submit their written or artistic product to a web site. It also allowed their work to
be shared with other students and visitors and it Can be done with Google docs.

The second type in web-based project is Information Collection and Analysis that
refers using information collections that provide data and information on request. There are
two examples in this type that is Webquests and Real Life Data Analysis. A WebQuest is an
inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with
comes from the web. The real life data analysis is that activities give students access data
from real phenomena such as weather, or solar activity.
The third type in web-based project is Problem Solving that refers to studentoriented and cooperative problem-solving project. Problem Based Learning is one of the
example for problem solving type.It is an approach of teaching and learning that requires the
students to apply higher level leaning process. It is is a student-centered pedagogy in which
students learn about a subject through the experience of solving an open-ended problem.
Students learn both thinking strategies and domain knowledge. The second example in
problem learning is Collaborative Problem Solving that refers students in number of
different location work on similar problems. They solve a problem independently and then
compare their methods and results with information gathered during the activity. Social
Action Projects is another example that refers to students who are responsible for learning
about and addressing important, global social, economic, political, or environmental
condition. Simulated Activities is also an example of problem solving. These are the web
equivalent of simulation software.Students who participated in online stimulations produced
higher exam scores than those who participated in the traditional face to face enviroment.
