THE DIRTY LITTLE SECRET THEY WANT TO HIDE FROM YOU: In the petroleum business, a small rise in temperature is a big deal. The petroleum companies make allowances for it when bulk selling all types of petroleum products (diesel, gasoline, jet fuel etc). But the service stations do not have an allowance for temperature compensation at the pumps. So… FILL UP YOUR VEHICLE IN THE EARLY MORNING ...when the ground temperature is still cold All service stations have their fuel storage tanks buried directly below the pumps, in the ground. The colder the ground, the denser the fuel, when it gets warmer petrol expands, so when buying in the warmer afternoon or evening your gallon is not exactly a gallon. CHOOSE A FUEL EFFICIENT VEHICLE # Gasoline saving tip If you are thinking about buying a new vehicle then you need to consider buying a fuel efficient car. Selecting which vehicle to purchase is the most important fuel economy decision you'll make. A good website to check out is http://www.fueleconomy.gov It has gas mileage calculations and more information for 1985-2009 model year cars. The difference between a car that gets 20 MPG and one that gets 30 MPG amounts to $1,020 per year (assuming 15,000 miles of driving annually and a fuel cost of $4.08). That's $5,100 extra in fuel costs over five years! FILL UP WHEN YOUR TANK IS HALF FULL # Fuel Saving Tip The reason for this is, the more fuel you have in your tank, the less air occupying its empty space. Petrol evaporates faster than you can imagine. Petroleum storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the petrol and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated, so that every litre is actually the exact amount. DRIVE SENSIBLY # Save gasoline tip www.familybudget.us 4

Aggressive driving such as speeding, rapid acceleration and braking will waste gas. In fact; it can lower your gas mileage by 33 percent at highway speeds and by 5 percent around town. Fuel Economy Benefit: 5-33% Equivalent Gasoline Savings: $0.20-$1.35/gallon SAVE MONEY ON USED CARS # Fuel Efficient Cars Save money on buying used cars by comparing the prices of the car dealer and the actual price on the list of the used car dealer ads. To ensure the car that you buy is well conditioned, you may ask for the help of a mechanic to check if the car is good enough for its price. It is better to buy a used car from a person you know and trust. This will help you make sure that you have a good deal in acquiring a car. A good place to look for used cars is the Government & Police Auto Auctions which Has Cars up to 95% Off! Americas #1 Trusted Police, Repos, State Seized & Government Car Auction Site. REMOVE ROOF RACK WHEN NOT IN USE # Fuel Economic Tip A roof rack provides additional cargo space and allows many people to meet their need with a smaller car when travelling long distances (i.e. on a holiday). However, a loaded roof rack can decrease your fuel economy by 5 percent. Reduce aerodynamic drag and improve your fuel economy by placing items inside the trunk whenever possible. If you are not going on holiday and do not need your roof rack, then remove it. CHECK YOUR CARS TIRE PRESSURE # Fuel Economy Tip Keep it a habit to check your car's tires so each one has the right amount of pressure. Having unequal pressure can greatly affect the car's fuel economy. It is also advised for you to refrain from accelerating too fast since this means burning a lot more fuel. These are some of the things that you can do to save on gas. Gasoline is not a renewable resource, therefore using it wisely is very important to conserve this valuable commodity RUN YOUR CAR ON WATER # Best Fuel Saver Product Converting your car to BURN WATER as well as Gasoline you can easily double your mileage and save a bundle of cash. I kid you not; in fact the very first cars in the early 1900's ran on water – the technology has been around for a very long time. www.familybudget.us 5

Would you like to stop paying for expensive gas and save over 50% on fuel costs at the same time as helping the environment by running a vehicle with cleaner emissions? Then consider converting your car to RUN ON WATER! If You Want To Save 50% on Fuel Costs Then Click Here To: Convert Your Car To BURN WATER OBSERVE THE SPEED LIMIT # Fuel Economic Tip Gas mileage will decrease rapidly at speeds above 60 mph (although each vehicle will reach its optimal fuel economy at different speeds). Each mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional $0.30 per gallon for gas. Sensible driving is also safer for you and for others, so you may save more than gas money. Fuel Economy Benefit: 7-23% Equivalent Gasoline Savings: $0.29-$0.94/gallon CONSIDER PUBLIC TRANSPORT # Save Money On Fuel Consider using public transit if it is available and convenient for you. The American Public Transit Transportation Association has links to information about public transportation in your state. REVIEW PRICES AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS # Fuel Save Tip Take time to drive around and check the pump prices of the gas stations near your neighbourhood. Keep in mind that a few cents difference can add up to a lot if you continually have your car re-filled in the same gas station all the time. Try to compare gasoline rates. You may refuel your car with the gasoline station that offers the lowest price on gasoline. You can even save more by pumping gas yourself and use the lowest octane in your car’s manual. It is also recommended that you pay cash than credit cards that charge extra rates. Do not forget to check the gas cap if it is tightened to ensure no gas is spilled out. REMOVE EXCESS WEIGHT # Fuel Efficiency Tip Try to avoid carrying unneeded items, especially heavy ones. An extra 100 lbs in the trunk reduces a typical car's fuel economy by 1-2 percent. The decrease is based on the percentage of extra weight relative to the vehicle's load and affects smaller motor vehicles more than larger ones. Fuel Economy Benefit: 1-2%/100 lbs Equivalent Gasoline Savings: $0.04-$0.08/gallon www.familybudget.us 6

DONT SQUEEZE THE NOZZLE TO FAST MODE # Gasoline Saving Tip Most triggers have three stages: slow, medium, and fast. You should be pumping on the slow speed, thereby minimizing the vapours that are created whilst you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapour return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapour. Those vapours are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money. AVOID EXCESSIVE IDLING # Fuel Efficiency Tip Idling gets 0 miles per gallon. Cars that have larger engines typically waste more gas idling than cars with smaller engines. USE CRUISE CONTROL # Fuel Saving Tip When using cruise control on the highway, it not only helps you to maintain a constant and lawful speed but, in most cases, will save gas. USE OVERDRIVE GEARS # Best Fuel Economy When you use overdrive gearing, your car's engine speed goes down. This saves gas and reduces engine wear. PUT AN ADVERT ON YOUR CAR # Subsidize Cost For Gasoline Put an ad on the side of your car. Many intuitive companies will pay you to place an advertisement on the side of your car. It’s a win – win because they get the exposure that they are want, whilst you pocket up to $500 or more a month for the privilege. Not bad Eh? To find out how to get paid $500 per month to drive your car with an advertisement on it click HERE KEEP YOUR ENGINE TUNED # Fuel Efficient Vehicles Servicing a car that is noticeably out of tune or has failed an emission test can improve the gas mileage by an average of 4 percent, though results will vary based on the type of repair and how well it is done. By fixing serious maintenance problems, such as a faulty oxygen sensor, you can improve your mileage by as much as 40 percent. Fuel Economy Benefit: 4% www.familybudget.us 7

Equivalent Gasoline Savings: $0.16/gallon WORK COMMUTING # Gasoline Saving Tip Try to stagger your work hours so as to avoid peak rush hours. You will spend less time sitting in traffic and eat through less fuel. Consider working from home if your employer will allow it. If you happen to own more than one vehicle, attempt to drive the one that gets the best gas mileage whenever it is possible. You can always take the public transportation system when going to the office. This is also a good way to relax since you are not driving. You can even take a short nap while on your way. REGULARLY REPLACE WORN AIR FILTERS # Fuel Economic Tip Changing a clogged air filter can improve your car's gas mileage by up to 10 percent. Your car's air filters keep impurity from harming the inside of your engine. Replacing a dirty air filter will not only save gas, it will protect your engine. Fuel Economy Benefit: up to 10% Equivalent Gasoline Savings: up to $0.41/gallon GET LOW COST CAR INSURANCE # Get Cheap Gasoline by Subsidizing Sure, this may not be a tip on fuel saving, but getting low cost insurance can help to offset the rising price at Bowesr. Click here to Get Low Cost Car Insurance...For Life DO NOT FILL UP IF THERE IS A FUEL TRUCK PUMPING # Fuel Saving Tip It is likely that when the fuel truck is filling the underground storage tanks that the petroleum is being stirred up as the fuel is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom of the tanks. You want fuel in your vehicle, not dirt.

ENSURE TIRES ARE PROPERLY INFLATED # Fuel Economy You can easily improve your gas mileage by around 3.3 percent by keeping your tires inflated to the proper pressure. Under-inflated tires will lessen gas mileage by 0.4 percent for every 1 psi drop in pressure of all four tires. Appropriately inflated tires last longer and are safer. Fuel Economy Benefit: up to 3% Equivalent Gasoline Savings: up to $0.12/gallon GET PAID TO DRIVE # Fuel Saving Tip Get Paid to Drive! You heard right – not only you will save thousands of dollars every year in fuel costs… whilst significantly reducing wear and tear on your own vehicle. To learn ho to GET PAID TO DRIVE click HERE to Learn How USE THE RECOMMENDED GRADE OF OIL # Save fuel An easy way to improve gas mileage by 1-2 percent is by using the manufacturer's recommended grade of motor oil. As an example, using 10W-30 motor oil in an engine intended to use 5W-30 can lower your gas mileage by 1-2 percent. Using 5W-30 in an engine designed for 5W-20 can lower your gas mileage by 1-1.5 percent. Be sure to look for motor oil that says "Energy Conserving" on the API performance symbol so that you can be positive that it contains friction-reducing additives. Fuel Economy Benefit: 1-2% Equivalent Gasoline Savings: $0.04-$0.08/gallon PLAN AND COMBINE TRIPS # Gasoline Saving Tip Be sure to combine errands into one trip. It will you time and money. Several short trips taken from a cold start can use up to twice as much fuel as a longer multipurpose trip casing the same area when the engine is warmed up. Planning your trip ensures that travelling is done when the engine is warm and efficient. With very little planning, you can avoid going back over your route and therefore reducing the distance you travel as well. You will not only save fuel, but also reduce wear and tear on your car. CARPOOL # Fuel Saving Tip Take advantage of carpools and ride-share programs. You can, with very little difficulty, cut your weekly fuel costs in half and also save wear on your car if you take turns in commuting with other people. Another benefit in this is that www.familybudget.us 9

many urban areas will allow vehicles with more than one passenger to use special High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes. This is a great idea for employees and students alike. Since all of you will have the same destination, there is no need to bring extra vehicles if you can all fit in one car or van. If you are with your co-workers, it is a good idea to bring your cars alternately or on rotation. If you have children that you bring to school or social events, exchange driving responsibilities with your friends.
