 Victorian Coalition building a better education system for all Victorian students

The future of an expanded Coburg Senior High School is assured, with Minister for
Education Martin Dixon announcing $3.5 million funding to expand the College into a full 7-
12 secondary school.

Mr Dixon said the funding for the project would be included in the upcoming Victorian State
Budget.

“The Victorian Coalition Government is committed to building better learning environments
for Victorian students and I’m pleased to announce $3.5 million for Coburg Senior High
School to develop the school’s Junior College for their first intake of year 7 students in
2015,” Mr Dixon said.

“This is a welcome announcement for the community, that will provide high quality facilities
to current and future students and the Coburg community.”

Coburg Junior College is accepting Year 7 enrolments for the 2015 school year, and will
grow to accept Year 8 and Year 9 enrolments in successive years.

Mr Dixon said all Victorian students should have access to the best and most up-to-date
school facilities.

“This year, the Coalition Government has allocated a record $8.8 billion towards building a
better education system for Victorian students,” Mr Dixon said.

Mr Ondarchie welcomed the announcement, and thanked the community their commitment
to local education.

“This investment of $3.5 million will ensure the Coburg Junior School can offer high quality
facilities that match the impressive curriculum and learning opportunities on offer for 2015,”
Mr Ondarchie said.

Funding for the upgrade will be available from 1 July this year.
