program
Since 1996 Pam Kasberger (GEAR associate) has opened her heart and
her garage to prepare for the GEAR FOR SPORTS Scholarship Sale,
which is held twice a year in April and October. With donations of sample
and non-sellable garments from GEAR, proceeds of the Scholarship Sale
have raised a total of $372,000.00. All funds are donated to Gear for Sports
scholarships for high school graduates, selected from applications. This
year the funds raised will support approximately 20 scholarships to well
deserving students.

GEAR FOR SPORTS
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Applications must be received by May 1, 2015. One (1) one thousand dollar ($1,000) scholarship
will be awarded. Questions may be directed to Pam Kasberger, GEAR FOR SPORTS®, 9700

CRITERIA
1.
Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during their junior and senior years.
2.
Must provide letters of recommendation from their school and other activities.
3.
Type a 250 word essay on how you will “Make a Difference” after graduation from college.
4.
Focus will be on both school and non-school activities.
5.
Please add picture with application.
6.
Checks will be awarded to student in June.

A. ESSAY: This is your opportunity to tell the selection committee how you will make a difference
after graduation from college. Your essay should range from 250 – 1,000 words. Be sure your
name appears on each page of your essay.
B. LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: You must attach up to two letters of recommendation, one
from the following categories: faculty/administration, director of community activity, or employer,
(if applicable).
C. ACADEMIC INFORMATION and VERIFICATION: Forward copy of your transcript verified by
your principal or guidance counselor.
