MassBay Community College believes that a well-rounded education does not only include in-class learning, but also participation in extra-curricular activities, student service, and partnerships with local businesses, civic organizations and other schools and communities. In addition, MassBay encourages its diverse student body to obtain team-based skills required in the workplace through an emphasis on collaborative learning and team projects.
MassBay Community College is accredited bythe New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)—a non-governmental and nationally recognized organization.Apart from conventionalassociate degrees and certificates, MassBay also offers dual enrollment, which is an invaluable opportunity for high school students to gain college experience and earn college credits while still in high school.

In addition, the College offers a robust roster of student scholarships. Generally, scholarship money comes from alumni, faculty, staff, the MassBay Foundation, friends of the college and industry and community partners. These funds are tailored to the community college student, blending traditional rewards such as academic achievement or athletics, with emergency funds for unanticipated costs and rewards for single parents. MassBay also helps students with textbook purchases by allowing them to purchase books at 25% less than the original price and enabling students to sell their unwanted books for cash. Online degrees enable students to earn the credential they need to get ahead, while still earning the paycheck they need.
