Join College Dems for spring campaigning
The UW-Madison College Democrats are recruiting members for their upcoming involvement in spring semester Democratic campaigning. Beginning in late January, the College Dems plan to focus on assisting the Democratic presidential candidates. According to College Dems Chair Jordan Weibel, this is the plan of action that will surface post recall efforts. “After the Scott Walker/Rebecca Kleefisch recall efforts succeed, we need to refocus on the broader goal –assisting the Democratic candidate in the election through extensive campaigning,” Weibel said. Weibel said working on the College Dems’ spring campaigns is hard work, but the meetings are more social and enjoyable. “We go all out for campaigning,” he said. “Lots of free pizza, poster making, and lots of socializing—there’s never a dull moment during campaign season.” According to College Dems Vice Chair Debbie Thomas, the organization will College Dems meet for Thursday meeting in Humanities Photo by: Liam Kane-Grade

“We want everyone interested in joining to feel welcomed and informed,” Thomas said. “The worst feeling in the world is joining a new org and not know what’s going on.”
Thomas said joining the College Dems for spring campaigning is a decision volunteers won’t regret. “If I was a volunteer, I would definitely join College Dems,” she said. “ The relationships you make here are the ones that will last forever.”
Baldwin to speak on Voter ID

Come to our first meeting of 2012 for a chance to hear U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin speak about the Voter ID bill. She will discuss her office’s response to the bill and its impact on students, the elderly and economically disadvantaged citizens. Afterward, College Democrats vice chair Debbie Thomas will discuss voting under the Voter ID bill.
