The problems faced by Greyhound company >>As greyhound has just started their bus services, they were pressurized immensely as the increased ownership of automobiles and decreased airline fares >> therefore lead to a drastic drop in the industry’s share of interstate travel i.e. from 30 percent to 6 percent . >> they were suffering from high debt payments and two massive violent strikes. >>the entire life of greyhound from the year 1991-1994 was unstable. There was shifting its offices from one place to the other. >> due to weak financial decisions, the company lost a whole lot of money in various unnecessary areas such as on interior design of the office, first class travel and stay for the executives. >> no stability of turnover , as the employees were sacked within a year or so . >> since the terminals were staffed with part time workers , there was no proper customer service towards the passengers , which lead to loosing viable passengers. >> as the number of buses were cut down to half, the routes were rescheduled wherein the bus drivers had to exceed speed limit risking the life of the passengers. >> due to improper MIS, the system had overlapping of information and no proper records of the bookings which created a huge chaos within the functioning of the company.
