1. DESCRIPTION
The GSM-VAC2 is a new kind of a mobile voice and SMS dialling system. The phone memory in the form of a SIM card is used either to store telephone numbers or to program certain parameters. It is possible to record four different messages and send them to 10 different telephone numbers. The alarm inputs can be normal open (N.O.) and are thus triggered by a positive (+12V) or a negative pulse (GND); or they can be normal close (+12V or GND lost). Each alarm input enables us to send a pre-recorded voice message, an SMS or both. The GSM-VAC2 has also four outputs giving the user the ability to control a certain system from distance.

2. PURPOSE and APPLICATION
The GSM-VAC2 mobile unit can provide us with different information on the state of the alarm mounted on the protected object. It can also transmit other useful information important for operating applications such as: • • • • • vending machines various engines out of the reach of manual operation home care or emergency alarm car and boat alarm transmitter temperature regulation by means of a sensor

GSM-VAC2 can send only a pre-recorded voice message, an 18 character–SMS message or both. If the corresponding name ends with the letter “C”, only a voice message is sent; and if the name ends with the letter “S”, only an SMS is sent. Example: We wish to send a voice and an SMS message to the first telephone number, only a voice message to the second one and only an SMS message to the third one. (See the table below.)
GSM-VAC2 PROGRAMMING TABLE SIM CARD PHONE BOOK NAME TL0 TL1C TL2S NUMBER (DEFAULT) DESCRIPTION 1st telephone number (voice & SMS message) 2nd telephone number (voice message only) 3rd telephone number (SMS message only)

Do not send text messages to land lines. Very important Make sure you name the first telephone number TL0 and not TLO. i.e. a zero and not a letter O. The unit will not operate with old style Orange SIMs with 90 memory positions.

5.7 GSM-VAC2 SET-UP PARAMERTERS • RED – repetition of calling sequences. With the number from 1 to 9 we define how often the sequence is repeated in case the number is busy or not answered. The default value is set to number “3”. CLP – hidden telephone number. This function (“0” value) is used in order to conceal the telephone number of the device. The default value is set to “1” which means that the number is displayed. RFL – SIM card validity. The period of valid operating time varies with different GSM network providers. The value can be programmed between 1 – 36, whereas days represent multiplication of the mentioned value by 10. The default value does not presume any kind of expiry warning. Example: If we want to get an expiry warning message after 90 days, we should enter the number “9”. • RFT – Temporary validity of the SIM card. This function is pre–defined on the SIM card memory from the micro controller on the SIM card location “98”. The user can only change it when the RFL time is not regular (due to power failure or some other constant operating mode ). PTM – A test SMS is sent periodically. The UNIT can send the test message in the interval ranging from 1hour up to 240 hours. Example: if the PTM value is set to 12, the numbers linked to “LK5” get a test message every 12 hours.

Normally, when we want to store the SMS text, the telephone number needs to be entered. Since the latter is required only because of the basic design of the phone book memory, it is not important what kind of a number we enter. Each text starts with a two–character command: # and number: #0 – text for SIM card refill – default = refill SIM in days #1 – text for 1st alarm input – default = alarm on input #2 – text for 2nd alarm input – default = alarm on input #3 – text for 3rd alarm input – default = alarm on input #4 – text for 4th alarm input – default = alarm on input #5 – text for periodic test – default = periodic test

5. RECORDING AND LISTENING TO VOICE MESSAGE
_____________________________________________________________________________ 12

The memory of each alarm input enables us to record our own voice message in the total length of 10 seconds. The device is namely equipped with a microphone and a speaker, giving us the option to listen to what we have recorded. The speaker can be switched off by removing the jumper JP1 compound. Recording process: 1. 2. 3. 4. Press PLAY/REC key (1-4) and hold it as long as the LED3 display is lit. Start speaking. Release key – message recording process finished. Check recorded message by quickly pressing the (1-4) key.

Erasing: Press PLAY/REC key (1-4) and hold it as long as the LED3 display is lit, then stop recording. Follow the same procedure for all four messages.

PARAMETERS CHANGING USING THE SMS For the fist time programming we suggest to send the; PRALL; command to the GSM-VAC2 PLUS. On your mobile phone you’ll get back 12 SMS with all parameters. You can simply re-write the parameters and resend the SMS back to GSM-VAC2 PLUS. For Example: _____________________________________________________________________________ 22

The first SMS will be SMS with telephone numbers (TK0 –TK9). If the SIM card is empty you’ll get following SMS: ;TK 0=0;TK1=0;TK2=0;TK3=0;TK 4=0;TK5=0;TK6=0;TK7=0;TK 8=0;TK9=0; You’d like to change the TK0 (0770 713 47), TK1 (0774236480) and TK2 (077125563) ;TK0=0770 713 47;TK1=077236480;TK2=077125563;TK3=0;TK 4=0;TK5=0;TK6=0;TK7=0;TK 8=0;TK9=0; If you put the “+” before SMS string than you’ll automatically get the return message with just programming values. Example: SMS to GSM-VAC2+: ;+TK0=0770 713 47;TK1=0772364800;TK2=077125563;TK3=0;TK 4=0;TK5=0;TK6=0;TK7=0;TK 8=0;TK9=0; Return SMS from GSM-VAC2 PLUS if you use +: ;TK0=040 713 470;TK1=077236480;TK2=077125563;TK3=0;TK 4=0;TK5=0;TK6=0;TK7=0;TK 8=0;TK9=0;

You can use the same programming procedure for all parameters.

It is also possible to change just a few different parameters with one SMS. Consider that the SMS should not be longer than 160 characters (included space bar). For example, you want to change the following parameters and you want to get the confirmation SMS back: TK1, IP1, IP2, OP3, OP4; IF1, LK1 and RED You will create the following SMS: ;+TK1=077071347;IP1=1;IP2=1;OP3=15;IF1=120;LK1=1;RED=4; Send the SMS to the GSM-VAC2+ telephone number and in a few seconds you will get the reply SMS. The sentence of the SMS must be the same as the original you sent to the GSM-VAC2 +.

Command: ;PRSQ; When we send SMS with PRSQ command we receive revision of the device software and signal quality. The signal is momentary, minimal, maximum and average. Form of SMS is like this: P4+1.6m(300806)-SQ(5)=30, SQ MIN=21, SQ MAX=30, SQ AVE=25; SQ(5) means momentary signal on VM5 (flashes of blue LED). Value 30 means the strength of signal. This value is measured by GSM module. Value of the signal is between 1- 31, where 1 means the weakest signal and 31 the strongest signal.
MGT – message replay time

Is time in seconds, which tells us how long we will hear the voice message during alarm. Default value is 20s.
RGT – ring time duration

Is time in seconds, which tells us how long the ring will last when alarm is on and then skip to call the second number or cancel the RING. Default value is 90s.
C00 – conversion ˝00˝ to ˝+˝

If parameter is set to C00=1 VM5 converts ˝00˝ to ˝+˝. In case that we have on SIM card the following number ˝0038642364807˝ and parameter C00=1, VM5 will dial this number ˝+38642364807˝. Parameter is suitable for countries where they don’t support calling with starting numbers ˝00˝. Default value is ˝0˝.
TAM – tamper input

With this parameter we set the desired input to be active even if we reset the inputs. It means that the desired input is active for 24h.
MRES – module reset

Time in hours. Resetting the GSM module is recommended because it is possible that GSM module goes in to undefined state. Default time is 168h (one week).

NEW GSM-VAC2+ FEATURES
“MAIN POWER LOST” AND TELEPHONE NUMBERS LINKING – LK6, LK7 The GSM-VAC2+ will send an SMS message in case when the main power is lost (too low or off). In this case the unit will send an SMS to user. The default SMS is “Main Power Lost” and it is possible to change it. You can also program how long the unit must be without power. The default level is 5 second. The new GSM-VAC2+ can control also the battery level and when the level is under 10, 5 V will send the SMS “Low Battery”. _____________________________________________________________________________ 24

The low level of the battery can be detected in cases where the unit works without main power supply.

“MAIN POWER LOST” FILTER PARAMETR - VMT Parameter VMT determines the length of the pulse which is required to create the alarm after the main power is lost. This time can be from 1 second up to 240 seconds. The default value is 5 seconds. For example: When the GSM-VAC2+ is without main power supply more than 5 seconds (default) then will send the SMS message with following text: “Main Power Lost”. At the moment when the main power comes back the GSM-VAC2+ will send the SMS message with following text: “Main Power OK”.

For the upper example send the following SMS from the host phone to the GSM-VAC2+: ;VMT=5; If you want to get the confirmation SMS back then write “+” before SMS command: ;+VMT=5; “LOW BATTERY” FILTER PARAMETR - VBT Parameter VBT determinate length of the pulse which is required to create the alarm after the power of the battery is low and it is below 10,5V. This time can be from 1 second up to 240 seconds. The default value is 10 seconds. NOTE: The “Low battery” will be detected when the GSM-VAC2+ operates only with back-up battery and it is not connected on the Main Power Supply. For example: When the voltage of the back up battery is less then 10,5V, the GSM-VAC2+ will send the SMS message with the following text: “Low Battery”. At the moment when the battery power will be higher then 10,5V the GSM-VAC2+ will send the SMS message with the following text: “Low Battery OK”.

Normally, when we want to store the SMS text, the telephone number needs to be entered. Since the latter is required only because of the basic design of the phone book memory, it is not important what number we enter. When we enter the number which is not equal to “0” this number will be pasted together with text message.
