In today’s world, we take for granted such freedoms that people like Harrison Bergeron fought for. Reading this story makes one realize how awful a place it would be to live in. Not being able to express yourself, show your talents, and think would almost be like not even being human. “Every twenty seconds or so, the transmitter would send out some sharp noise to keep people like George from taking unfair advantage of their brains.” (294) Just imagine not being able to think for longer than twenty seconds, it’s one thing that we take for granted every second while were awake. With our freedom gone to do the things we want and to be the people who we are, life would be boring. “And then, in an explosion of joy and grace, into the air they sprang!” (298) without freedom we would lack joy, and grace in our lives.
