Heavy Traffic
Traffic is a major problem in urbanized places in the Philippines. As a citizen of our country, I observed and experienced traffic. Some places in the Philippines like Manila experience heavy traffic. This is also described as “bumper to bumper” where in vehicles are almost not moving and this often occurs during rush hours. Traffic in Manila is written in the book Inferno of Dan Brown which describes Manila as “gates of hell” because of its 6 hours of long traffic jams. The fact hurts but we can’t deny that Manila is full of traffic. I am against of heavy traffic because it is a burden for many Filipinos every day. It causes pollution to our environment which is hazardous to health, it wastes our time causing delays in our work and school schedule, it makes us uncomfortable, it stresses drivers who became desperate because their income for the day is greatly affected. Drivers may lose their temper and patience that may lead to vehicular accidents. Traffic also makes our streets noisy and crowded which is not pleasant to the eyes especially to the tourists. The government should act and solve this heavy traffic to lessen the problems of many Filipinos. They should assure our safety and make our work faster and this could contribute to the development of the nation. President Noynoy once said “Hindi inaasahan. Friday, ma-traffic. Hindi ko inaasahan, ma-traffic everywhere”. We should change for the better, today, not tomorrow.
