High School Reunion Dedication: To the Forest Park High School Class of 81 except for Ginger, Carrie and Molly who were always friends and honest with me
I walk alone from time to time Just strolling through this life of mine People I pass smile and go their own way They can’t understand how I live day by day A high school reunion to which I am invited About which in no way am I the least excited. Back then none of you could find the time To be a friend of mine, so I left you all behind. The night you named me the Winter Ball King, My queen would not come to dance and sing. The woman I thought I loved, didn’t stand by me To enjoy our one moment of true high school glory. So go to your reunion and remember the good old days I will just smile, my secret smile, and continue on my way No one will miss the ‘Gator, who understood the real truth As you all scramble to recapture that so treasured youth. I have been a poet, a Soldier, a lover and so much more What need have I to step back through Time’s revolving door? I live in the Present, looking and walking forward, not back When I look in the mirror, the glass is not flawed or cracked.
