Hive fleet: Leviathan Battle group name: Drekkei Planet Name: Not presently named/Unknown Planet description: A 9,500km diameter planet (approx. ¾ the size of Terra) with a slightly elliptic orbit around a small star. Surface water is limited to one inland freshwater sea that is only present for 2-1/2 months of the 7-1/2 month year. 85% of the water is contained within the porous surface of the planet. The five months without surface water are plagued by 120degF to 150degF temperatures and unbearable humidity of +90%. Limited resources can be found on the planet but several rare minerals are present in near abundance. Flora and fauna: Limited to several species of fast adapting fungi. The most common fungus is a ground hugging fungus that resembles dead grass. But also, common is a fast growing orange branch/bush fungus that resembles brambles or sea fans. Location: On the Perseus arm of the galaxy between Balhaut of the Sabot worlds, and Solstice. The closest known inhabited planet is the Biel Tan Craftworld

History: As a scout force of the hive fleet Leviathan, Drekkei was paralleling the main fleet when the hive fleet was destroyed. For over 150 years the small force wandered the galaxy aimlessly until a lack of resources forced it to make planet fall on a near dead planet. Many centuries have passed with the force barely eking out a survival from the limited resources available on the planet. Many changes have manifested in the force that have all but erased its heredity to the original hive fleet. In adaptation to the harsh environment, color morphology has driven these stragglers to a more camouflaged

appearance. Their tan and dark brown colors blend seamlessly with the scorched earth. Orange striations on their carapace are actually a fungus that has adapted to feed on the Tyranid carapaces. It is unclear weather this is an adaptation of the Tyranid or a purely parasitic infestation. Either way the fungus advances the Tyranid camouflage by breaking up their outline and further blending with some of the more common fungi of the planet. As a result of their meager diet they have limited access to some of the higher organisms usually available to a full hive fleet. Long-lived organisms, like the Carnifex, have an additional issue with the parasitic fungi weakening their carapaces before they can become fully mature. Resource management has made these higher beings impractical, except in rare or dire circumstances. A regular supply of gene seed and nutrients would quickly alleviate these problems. Current Situation: Recent Imperial deep space scans, in this previously unexplored system, have revealed the valuable minerals that are readily available in the system. Expeditionary forces have been launched and this has not gone unnoticed by the nearby Eldar craft world. The Eldar fear this is an imperium attempt to establish strike bases in support of an invasion.

“Many of the Magos Biologis who claim to be experts in the true nature of the Tyranid threat believe that the Tyranids of Behemoth were not the first to enter our galaxy. They were merely the first to arrive in large numbers. Archaeological evidence indicates there were potential Tyranid contacts long before the 41st millennium. We can only speculate whether these contacts were from proto-hive fleets, a long-range scouting force, or even creatures fleeing ahead of the oncoming Tyranid fleets. All we know is that for some time now, we've been in the clutches of the Hive Mind.”
