A home appliance control system (HACS) is a system which provides various services to remotely operate on home appliances or any industrial type area through remote devices such as mobile phone, desktop and palm-top.

This project design makes use of 8051 micro controllers for interfacing to various hardware interfaces. To control the electrical loads from the PC end an AT Keyboard is being used. Control any home appliance or in any industrial type area. Based on Embedded systems.

REQUIREMENTS HARDWARE USED : Ô Serial communication used for downloading the hex code. Ô Serial interfacing with PC. Ô Relay interface. SOFTWARES USED 4 Ô A Cross compiler for compiling and linking the code written for 8051. Ô Serial communication software for downloading code to 8051. Ô Operating System: Windows 2000. Ô Application program development in Embedded C.

This project can be made wireless also. Transmitter and receiver can be used with sensors attached at the hardware box and also at the application devices so as to make the system wireless. We can also use mobile phone & internet connection for enabling/disabling the electrical devices

The control of different devices in the house interfaced to the micro controller through PC which is serially interfaced to the micro controller. To control the electrical loads from the PC end an AT Keyboard is being used. Different key presses are used to control various electrical loads fan, bulb etc. As soon as we press a key on the keyboard, it generates a signal, and that signal is received by the micro controller via serial interface RS 232 cable. Hence a single key press on the keyboard is sufficient for controlling the any domestic appliances
